With CAM application, you can conduct assetinspection in the field, by scanning qr code and filling outinspection form on your smartphone. You will get correct selectionof inspection forms based on the qr code you scanned. You can alsotake photos within the application and add them to the inspection.

Income Over Feed Costs(IOFC) - This feature of the app illustrates what is happening withthe markets and how it is affecting IOFC. Income over feed cost percow or per cwt is a tool to examine how well the lactating rationcost matches the production of the herd. Enter your zip code,select the milk production level, and date. The app will calculateIOFC. The display will show feed cost/cwt, feed cost/cow, grossmilk price, milk margin/cwt milk and IOFC/cow/day. If you selecthistoric data, enter you zip code, milk production and units (percow or cwt). It will graph IOFC, feed cost and milk price startingfrom January 2012. Feed Price Comparison - This section of the appallows the user to track over time how prices of select ingredientsare trending. The feed price section allows the user to comparetheir purchased feed price to the Penn State Feed Price List and toother users in the database who have purchased the same feed. Enteryour zip code, feed selection, unit, price per unit, number ofunits purchased and date. Click submit pricing. Select “All FeedData”, the particular feed you are interested in and graph resultsfor your data, average for Pennsylvania and/or other user’s data.

Results can be graphed so the producer can view overtime how their herd is performing. The other component of the appis to monitor several feed management metrics. Dry matter intake,dry matter intake efficiency, milk nitrogen efficiency andphosphorus intake and excretion can be evaluated. This informationcan be graphed by group or by the lactating herd on a monthlybasis. A dairy producer can monitor how ration changes affect thesevarious metrics and opens the door for discussion on what arerealistic benchmarks for the herd and where opportunities lie forimprovements.
