Daddy Long Legs and Dear Enemy 1.0
Daddy Long-Legs (ILLUSTRATED) -JaneWebster& Dear Enemy (ILLUSTRATED) - Jane Webster.Theoriginalwritings, including drawings by Jane Webster which areanintegralpart of adding a lot to the humor and charm to thesebooks.Largely written in the form of letters from a lonelyorphanedgirlto her male benefactor, and reflecting times past, theheroine'strials, tribulations, hopes and fears seem asrelevanttoday as whenit was written. The formatting is by letternotchapters. Her thoughts and feelings are revealed as she makesherjourneythrough school and college towards employment and love. But,fearnot, this story is no 'sloppy' romance - our heroineshowsherselfto be both feisty and funny! Through the four yearsyoufollow Judyas her soaks up the world around her through hercandidandhumorous letters to Daddy Long Legs. This was a fun easy read, great for a rainy (orsnowy)afternooncozied up under a blanket with some hot chocolatenearby.Dear Enemy, its lesser-known sequel (a more accuratelabelfor"Dear Enemy" might be "parallel novel" instead of"sequel,").DaddyLong-Legs is vanilla, sweet and smooth. Dear Enemyis morelikemint chocolate chip, refreshing with nuggets ofwarmth, laughter, bittersweetness. You will be enchanted by thefiery-hairedSallieMcBride and her orphans. Her letters catalogue her daily adventures withthesweet, colorful kids, a series of cooks and farmers, sexisttrustees, andgrumpy neighbors.
