A nasheed (Arabic: singular نشيد nashīd,pluralأناشيد anāshīd,[citation needed] also nashwad (pl.),meaning:"chants"; also nasyid in Malaysia and Indonesia) is a workof vocalmusic that is either sung a cappella or accompanied bypercussioninstruments such as the daf. In general, Islamicanasheed do notcontain lamellaphone instruments, stringinstruments, or wind andbrass instruments, although digitalremastering – either to mimicpercussion instruments or createovertones – is permitted.
