Description

In 1990, Latino Sports Ventures, Inc.wasformed to fill the void, which existed in the Latino communityinregards to: promotions and marketing sports, sportspersonalitiesand products.

This became evident to Mr. Julio Pabón in January of 1990 while onavacation trip to Puerto Rico where he learned of the incidentwhichinvolved Mr. Ruben Sierra of the Texas Rangers who accordingto manybaseball enthusiasts, including some national sportspublicationsand writers, should have been selected the 1989American League MostValuable Player.

Mr. Pabón recognized that Latino players, no matter how goodtheyplayed, were being shortchanged in the media. He waspersonallyaffected when he noticed that his 9-year-old son wouldnot mentiona Latino player when he would play baseball with hisfather. “Hewould mention Don Mattingly, Dave Winfield and others, but never aLatino,” stated Mr. Pabón.

Mr. Pabón took it upon himself to organize a tribute for Mr.Sierrain Yankee Stadium understanding that the Latino communitycannotafford to wait for others to identify its role models.

As a result, Latino Sports Ventures (LSV) was born. LSV isamulti-faceted sports promotion and marketing companyheadquarteredin the South Bronx committed to bridging the gapbetween Latinosports personalities, goods and services and theLatino community. The Latino community, particularly its Englishspeaking youth arein dire need of positive role models and iconsthat can generate asense of pride and high esteem.

Unfortunately, Latino youth are exposed to the overwhelmingconsumergenerated marketing of companies, which primarily targetsthegeneral ethnic sectors overlooking the growing Latinocommunity. This powerful marketing sublimely sends out a message oflack ofachievement and creates a serious void in theLatinocommunities.

Latino Sports Ventures Inc. (LSV) is committed to filling thisvoidwith goods and services while simultaneously sending out aclearmessage of love, pride and goodwill to every Latino. In 1993Mr.Pabón focused his attention on building LSV and focused onthedesign and production of the LSV logo on apparel.

He then opened the Latino Sports CLUBHOUSE an apparel andspecialtyshop which included a rare sports book section andmemorabiliaexhibit. After several years of successful operationsthe store wassubsequently closed after the 2008 economic meltdownand all theproducts were moved to “La Tienda” on theLatinosports.comsite.

Today Latino Sports is also recognized as a leader insportspromotion and marketing in the Latino community.

Latino Sports has consulted various athletes andorganizations.Carlos Baerga, Sandy & Roberto Alomar & AlexRodriguez(MLB), Felipe Lopez, José Juan Barea (NBA), Macho Camacho&Tito Trinidad (Boxing), Major League Baseball, the NewYorkYankees, New York Mets, Latino Sports Writers &BroadcastersAssociation (LSWBA) and the Retire 21 movement to namea few.
