O Goiás Esporte Clube nasceu de um sonho,queteve os primeiros passos rumo à realidade na noite de 6 de abrilde1943, na calçada da rua 23, Centro de Goiânia, sob um postedeiluminação pública. Foi neste local que um grupo de amigos,quetiveram o sonho em comum, começou a organizar o clube quehoje,passados 71 anos, se transformou num dos principais do Paíseindiscutivelmente o maior do Centro-Oeste. Ali, naquelacalçada,sob aquela luminária, nasceu um campeão.

Na verdade, o inusitado local de fundação do Goiás tem ummotivoaté certo ponto simplório. O que aconteceu foi que oscriadores doclube se reuniram na casa dos irmãos Lino e CarlosBarsi paradiscutir o projeto. Como se tratava de um grupo deentusiastas, éfácil imaginar o volume elevado das vozes durante odebate. E foiexatamente o barulho da conversa que fez com que amatriarca dafamília Barsi determinasse que a reunião prosseguissedo lado defora da casa. Por isso, o Goiás nasceu sob a luz de umposte derua. Provavelmente, por isso também, que ele seja umclubeabsolutamente “iluminado”.

Os primeiros anos foram difíceis, embora alguns detalhesjádeixassem antever o futuro vitorioso. Acontecimentos como,porexemplo, o 3º lugar no Campeonato Goiano de 1944, o primeirodahistória, logo atrás do Atlético e Goiânia, as duas forçasdaépoca. Ou a conquista, em campo, do titulo de 1951,perdidoposteriormente na Justiça para o Goiânia. De qualquermaneira, se ofuturo seria brilhante, as duas primeiras décadasexigiramdedicação, perseverança e determinação dos fundadores.
