Moon 1.3
The Moon is Earth's only permanent natural satellite. It is one ofthe largest natural satellites in the Solar System, and the largestamong planetary satellites relative to the size of the planet thatit orbits (its primary). It is the second-densest satellite amongthose whose densities are known (after Jupiter's satellite Io). TheMoon is thought to have formed approximately 4.5 billion years ago,not long after Earth. There are several hypotheses for its origin;the most widely accepted explanation is that the Moon formed fromthe debris left over after a giant impact between Earth and aMars-sized body called Theia. The Moon is in synchronous rotationwith Earth, always showing the same face with its near side markedby dark volcanic maria that fill between the bright ancient crustalhighlands and the prominent impact craters. It is thesecond-brightest regularly visible celestial object in Earth's skyafter the Sun, as measured by illuminance on Earth's surface. Itssurface is actually dark (although it can appear a very brightwhite) with a reflectance just slightly higher than that of wornasphalt. Its prominence in the sky and its regular cycle of phaseshave made the Moon an important cultural influence since ancienttimes on language, calendars, art, and mythology. The Moon'sgravitational influence produces the ocean tides, body tides, andthe slight lengthening of the day. The Moon's current orbitaldistance is about thirty times the diameter of Earth, with itsapparent size in the sky almost the same as that of the Sun,resulting in the Moon covering the Sun nearly precisely in totalsolar eclipse. This matching of apparent visual size will notcontinue in the far future. The Moon's linear distance from Earthis currently increasing at a rate of 3.82 ± 0.07 centimetres (1.504± 0.028 in) per year, but this rate is not constant. The SovietUnion's Luna programme was the first to reach the Moon withunmanned spacecraft in 1959; the United States' NASA Apollo programachieved the only manned missions to date, beginning with the firstmanned lunar orbiting mission by Apollo 8 in 1968, and six mannedlunar landings between 1969 and 1972, with the first being Apollo11. These missions returned over 380 kg (840 lb) of lunar rocks, which have been used to develop a geological understanding of theMoon's origin, the formation of its internal structure, and itssubsequent history. After the Apollo 17 mission in 1972, the Moonhas been visited only by unmanned spacecraft.
Learn Mars 1.2
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second-smallestplanet in the Solar System, after Mercury.Often referred to as the"Red Planet"[13][14] because the iron oxide prevalent on itssurface gives it a reddish appearance.[15] Mars is a terrestrialplanet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscentboth of the impact craters of the Moon and the valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth. The rotational period and seasonalcycles of Mars are likewise similar to those of Earth, as is thetilt that produces the seasons. Mars is the site of Olympus Mons, the largest volcano and second-highest known mountain in the SolarSystem, and of Valles Marineris, one of the largest canyons in theSolar System. The smooth Borealis basin in the northern hemispherecovers 40% of the planet and may be a giant impact feature.[16][17]Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos, which are small andirregularly shaped. These may be captured asteroids,[18][19]similar to 5261 Eureka, a Mars trojan. Until the first successfulMars flyby in 1965 by Mariner 4, many speculated about the presenceof liquid water on the planet's surface. This was based on observedperiodic variations in light and dark patches, particularly in thepolar latitudes, which appeared to be seas and continents; long, dark striations were interpreted by some as irrigation channels forliquid water. These straight line features were later explained asoptical illusions, though geological evidence gathered by uncrewedmissions suggests that Mars once had large-scale water coverage onits surface at some earlier stage of its existence.[20] In 2005,radar data revealed the presence of large quantities of water iceat the poles[21] and at mid-latitudes.[22][23] The Mars roverSpirit sampled chemical compounds containing water molecules inMarch 2007. The Phoenix lander directly sampled water ice inshallow Martian soil on July 31, 2008.[24] On September 28, 2015,NASA announced the presence of briny flowing salt water on theMartian surface.[25]
Learn All Dinosaur Species 1.9
Dinosaurs are a diverse group of animals of the clade Dinosauria. They first appeared during the Triassic period, 231.4 million yearsago, and were the dominant terrestrial vertebrates for 135 millionyears, from the start of the Jurassic (about 200 million years ago)until the end of the Cretaceous (66 million years ago), when theCretaceous–Paleogene extinction event led to the extinction of mostdinosaur groups at the end of the Mesozoic Era. The fossil recordindicates that birds are modern feathered dinosaurs, having evolvedfrom theropod ancestors during the Jurassic Period. Some birdssurvived the extinction event that occurred 66 million years ago,and their descendants continue the dinosaur lineage to the presentday. Mammoth 1.2
A mammoth is any species of the extinct genus Mammuthus, proboscideans commonly equipped with long, curved tusks and, innorthern species, a covering of long hair. They lived from thePliocene epoch (from around 5 million years ago) into the Holoceneat about 4,500 years ago[1][2] in Africa, Europe, Asia, and NorthAmerica. They were members of the family Elephantidae, which alsocontains the two genera of modern elephants and their ancestors.Mammoths stem from an ancestral species called M. africanavus, theAfrican mammoth. These mammoths lived in northern Africa anddisappeared about 3 or 4 million years ago. Descendants of thesemammoths moved north and eventually covered most of Eurasia. Thesewere M. meridionalis, the 'southern mammoths'.
Constellation : Learning App 1.4
In everyday usage, a constellation is a traditional or recognizablegroup of stars in the night sky, or the region of the skycontaining them. In technical usage these meanings have beenseparated, with groupings of stars being called asterisms, and theword constellation being reserved for a specific area of thecelestial sphere with boundaries laid down by the InternationalAstronomical Union (IAU). These areas mostly had their origins inWestern-traditional asterisms from which the constellations taketheir names. When astronomers say something is “in” a givenconstellation they mean it is within those official boundaries. There are 88 officially recognized constellations, covering theentire sky which have grown from the 48 classical Greekconstellations laid down by Ptolemy in the Almagest. Out of these88 constellations, 12 compose the zodiac signs. Neptune 1.2
Neptune is the eighth and farthest known planet from the Sun in theSolar System. It is the fourth-largest planet by diameter and thethird-largest by mass. Among the giant planets in the Solar System,Neptune is the most dense. Neptune is 17 times the mass of Earthand is slightly more massive than its near-twin Uranus, which is 15times the mass of Earth and slightly larger than Neptune.[c]Neptune orbits the Sun once every 164.8 years at an averagedistance of 30.1 astronomical units (4.50×109 km). Named after theRoman god of the sea, its astronomical symbol is ♆, a stylisedversion of the god Neptune's trident. Neptune is not visible to theunaided eye and is the only planet in the Solar System found bymathematical prediction rather than by empirical observation.Unexpected changes in the orbit of Uranus led Alexis Bouvard todeduce that its orbit was subject to gravitational perturbation byan unknown planet. Neptune was subsequently observed with atelescope on 23 September 1846[1] by Johann Galle within a degreeof the position predicted by Urbain Le Verrier. Its largest moon,Triton, was discovered shortly thereafter, though none of theplanet's remaining known 14 moons were located telescopically untilthe 20th century. The planet's distance from Earth gives it a verysmall apparent size, making it challenging to study withEarth-based telescopes. Neptune was visited by Voyager 2, when itflew by the planet on 25 August 1989.[10] The advent of HubbleSpace Telescope and large ground-based telescopes with adaptiveoptics has recently allowed for additional detailed observationsfrom afar.
Earth 1.3
Earth is the third planet from the Sun, the densest planet intheSolar System, the largest of the Solar System's fourterrestrialplanets, and the only astronomical object known toharbor life.According to radiometric dating and other sources ofevidence,Earth formed about 4.54 billion years ago.[27][28][29]Earthgravitationally interacts with other objects in space, especiallythe Sun and the Moon. During one orbit around the Sun,Earthrotates about its own axis 366.26 times, creating 365.26 solardaysor one sidereal year.[n 7] Earth's axis of rotation is tilted23.4°away from the perpendicular of its orbital plane, producingseasonal variations on the planet's surface with a periodof onetropical year (365.24 solar days).[30] The Moon is Earth'sonlypermanent natural satellite. Its gravitational interactionwithEarth causes ocean tides, stabilizes the orientation ofEarth'srotational axis, and gradually slows Earth's rotationalrate.[31]Earth's lithosphere is divided into several rigid tectonicplatesthat migrate across the surface over periods of many millionsofyears. 71% of Earth's surface is covered with water,[32] withtheremainder consisting of continents and islands that togetherhavemany lakes and other sources of water that contribute tothehydrosphere. Earth's polar regions are mostly covered withice, including the Antarctic ice sheet and the sea ice of the Arcticicepack. Earth's interior remains active with a solid iron innercore,a liquid outer core that generates the magnetic field, andaconvecting mantle that drives plate tectonics. Within itsfirstbillion years,[33] life appeared in Earth's oceans and begantoaffect its atmosphere and surface, leading to the proliferationofaerobic and anaerobic organisms. Since then, the combinationofEarth's distance from the Sun, its physical properties anditsgeological history have allowed life to thrive and evolve.Theearliest undisputed life on Earth arose at least 3.5 billionyearsago. Earlier physical evidence of life includes biogenicgraphitein 3.7 billion-year-old metasedimentary rocks discoveredinsouthwestern Greenland, as well as "remains of biotic life"foundin 4.1 billion-year-old rocks in Western Australia.[34][35]Earth'sbiodiversity has expanded continually except wheninterrupted bymass extinctions.[36] Although scholars estimate thatover 99% ofall species of life (over five billion)[37] that everlived onEarth are extinct,[38][39] there are still an estimated10–14million extant species,[40][41] of which about 1.2 millionhavebeen documented and over 86% have not yet been described.[42]Morerecently, in May 2016, scientists reported that 1 trillionspeciesare estimated to be on Earth currently with onlyone-thousandth ofone percent described.[43] Over 7.3 billionhumans[44] live onEarth and depend on its biosphere and mineralsfor their survival.Earth's human population is divided among about200 sovereignstates that interact through diplomacy, conflict, travel, trade, and communication media.

Jupiter 1.2
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest intheSolar System. It is a giant planet with a mass one-thousandththatof the Sun, but two and a half times that of all the otherplanetsin the Solar System combined. Jupiter is a gas giant, alongwithSaturn, with the other two giant planets, Uranus and Neptune, beingice giants. Jupiter was known to astronomers of ancienttimes.[11]The Romans named it after their god Jupiter.[12] Whenviewed fromEarth, Jupiter can reach an apparent magnitude of −2.94,brightenough for its reflected light to cast shadows,[13] andmaking iton average the third-brightest object in the night skyafter theMoon and Venus. Jupiter is primarily composed of hydrogenwith aquarter of its mass being helium, though helium comprisesonlyabout a tenth of the number of molecules. It may also have arockycore of heavier elements,[14] but like the other giantplanets,Jupiter lacks a well-defined solid surface. Because of itsrapidrotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (ithasa slight but noticeable bulge around the equator). Theouteratmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands atdifferentlatitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms alongtheirinteracting boundaries. A prominent result is the Great RedSpot, agiant storm that is known to have existed since at least the17thcentury when it was first seen by telescope. SurroundingJupiter isa faint planetary ring system and a powerfulmagnetosphere. Jupiterhas at least 67 moons, including the fourlarge Galilean moonsdiscovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610.Ganymede, the largest ofthese, has a diameter greater than that ofthe planet Mercury.
Megalodon 1.2
Megalodon , meaning "big tooth", from Ancient Greek: μέγας(megas)"big, mighty" and ὀδoύς (odoús), "tooth"—whose stem isodont-, asseen in the genitive case form ὀδόντος, odóntos)[1] is anextinctspecies of shark that lived approximately 23 to 2.6 millionyearsago, during the Cenozoic Era (early Miocene[2] to endofPliocene[3]). The taxonomic assignment of C. megalodon hasbeendebated for nearly a century, and is still under dispute. Thetwomajor interpretations are Carcharodon megalodon (underfamilyLamnidae) or Carcharocles megalodon (under thefamilyOtodontidae).[4] Consequently, the scientific name of thisspeciesis commonly abbreviated C. megalodon in the literature.

Mercury 1.2
Mercury is the smallest planet in the Solar System and theoneclosest to the Sun,[a] with an orbital period of about 88Earthdays, which is much faster than any other planet in theSolarSystem. Seen from Earth, it appears to move around its orbitinabout 116 days. It has no known natural satellites. It isnamedafter the Roman deity Mercury, the messenger to the gods.Partlybecause it has almost no atmosphere to retain heat,Mercury'ssurface temperature varies diurnally more than any otherplanet inthe Solar System, ranging from 100 K (−173 °C; −280 °F) atnight to700 K (427 °C; 800 °F) during the day in some equatorialregions. The poles are constantly below 180 K (−93 °C; −136 °F).Mercury'saxis has the smallest tilt of any of the Solar System'splanets(about 1⁄30 of a degree), and its orbital eccentricity isthelargest of all known planets in the Solar System.[a] Ataphelion,Mercury is about 1.5 times as far from the Sun as it isatperihelion. Mercury's surface is heavily cratered and similarinappearance to the Moon, indicating that it has beengeologicallyinactive for billions of years. Mercury is tidallyorgravitationally locked with the Sun in a 3:2 resonance,[14]androtates in a way that is unique in the Solar System. Asseenrelative to the fixed stars, it rotates on its axis exactlythreetimes for every two revolutions it makes around theSun.[b][15] Asseen from the Sun, in a frame of reference thatrotates with theorbital motion, it appears to rotate only onceevery two Mercurianyears. An observer on Mercury would thereforesee only one dayevery two years.
Sabertooth Tiger 1.2
Smilodon is an extinct genus of machairodont felid. It isperhapsone of the most famous prehistoric mammals, and the bestknownsaber-toothed cat. Although commonly known as thesaber-toothedtiger, it was not closely related to the tiger orother moderncats. Smilodon lived in the Americas during thePleistocene epoch(2.5 mya–10,000 years ago). The genus was named in1842, based onfossils from Brazil. Three species are recognizedtoday: S.gracilis, S. fatalis and S. populator. The two latterspecies wereprobably descended from S. gracilis, which itselfprobably evolvedfrom Megantereon. The largest collection ofSmilodon fossils hasbeen obtained from the Rancho La Brea Tar Pitsin Los Angeles,California. Overall, Smilodon was more robustlybuilt than anyextant cat, with particularly well-developedforelimbs andexceptionally long upper canines. Its jaw had a biggergape thanthat of modern cats and its upper canines were slender andfragile, being adapted for precision killing. S. gracilis was thesmallestspecies at 55 to 100 kg (120 to 220 lb) in weight. S.fatalis had aweight of 160 to 280 kg (350 to 620 lb) and height of100 cm (39in). Both of these species are mainly known from NorthAmerica, butremains from South America have also been attributed tothem. S.populator from South America is perhaps the largest knownfelid at220 to 400 kg (490 to 880 lb) in weight and 120 cm (47 in)inheight. The coat pattern of Smilodon is unknown, but it hasbeenartistically restored with plain or spotted patterns. InNorthAmerica, Smilodon hunted large herbivores such as bison andcamelsand it remained successful even when encountering new preyspeciesin South America. Smilodon is thought to have killed itsprey byholding it still with its forelimbs and biting it, but itisunclear in what manner the bite itself was delivered.Scientistsdebate whether Smilodon had a social or a solitarylifestyle;analysis of modern predator behavior as well as ofSmilodon'sfossil remains could be construed to lend support toeither view.Smilodon probably lived in closed habitats such asforests andbush, which would have provided cover for ambushingprey. Smilodondied out at the same time that most North and SouthAmericanmegafauna disappeared, about 10,000 years ago. Its relianceonlarge animals has been proposed as the cause of itsextinction, along with climate change and competition with otherspecies, butthe exact cause is unknown.
Breast Anatomy and Development 1.1
The breast is one of two prominences located on the upperventralregion of a primate's torso. In females, it serves as themammarygland, which produces and secretes milk to feed infants.Bothfemales and males develop breasts from the sameembryologicaltissues. At puberty, estrogens, in conjunction withgrowth hormone, cause breast development in female humans and to amuch lesserextent in other primates. Breast development in otherprimatefemales generally only occurs with pregnancy. Subcutaneousfatcovers and envelops a network of ducts that converge on thenipple, and these tissues give the breast its size and shape. At theendsof the ducts are lobules, or clusters of alveoli, where milkisproduced and stored in response to hormonal signals.Duringpregnancy, the breast responds to a complex interactionofhormones, including estrogens, progesterone, and prolactin, thatmediate the completion of its development, namelylobuloalveolarmaturation, in preparation of lactation andbreastfeeding. Alongwith their major function in providingnutrition for infants, female breasts have social and sexualcharacteristics. Breasts havebeen featured in ancient and modernsculpture, art, andphotography. They can figure prominently in theperception of awoman's body and sexual attractiveness. A number ofculturesassociate breasts with sexuality and tend to regard barebreasts inpublic as immodest or indecent. Breasts, especially thenipples, are an erogenous zone. Breast cancer is cancer that develops from breast tissue. Signsofbreast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change inbreastshape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the nipple, anewlyinverted nipple, or a red or scaly patch of skin. In thosewithdistant spread of the disease, there may be bone pain, swollenlymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin. Riskfactors fordeveloping breast cancer include being female, obesity,a lack ofphysical exercise, alcoholism, hormone replacement therapyduringmenopause, ionizing radiation, an early age at firstmenstruation, having children late in life or not at all, older age, having aprior history of breast cancer, and a family history ofbreastcancer. About 5–10% of cases are the result of ageneticpredisposition inherited from a person's parents, includingBRCA1and BRCA2 among others. Breast cancer most commonly developsincells from the lining of milk ducts and the lobules thatsupplythese ducts with milk. Cancers developing from the ducts areknownas ductal carcinomas, while those developing from lobules areknownas lobular carcinomas. There are more than 18 other sub-typesofbreast cancer. Some, such as ductal carcinoma in situ, developfrompre-invasive lesions. The diagnosis of breast cancer isconfirmedby taking a biopsy of the concerning tissue. Once thediagnosis ismade, further tests are done to determine if the cancerhas spreadbeyond the breast and which treatments are most likely tobeeffective.
