Keyboard Master 1.2.7 APK
R E Q U I R E S -- R O O TR E Q U I R E S -- B U S Y B O XM U S T - BE - INSTALLED - AS - SYSTEM - APPThank you for READING the following BEFOREcommenting/reviewing:For most android devices but tested only on Samsung Note I(ICS/JB), Galaxy S2 (JB), and Galaxy Note 10.1 (JB).Install as a normal app. But to operate fully, you MUST installas a system app. I recommend using /system/app mover but am informed that Titanium Backup Pro willalso perform this function. Other techniques may work as well. Youmust undo this prior to a full uninstall. After using on your device in free mode, please considerpurchasing the Pro Upgrade to unlock otherfeatures. Please email me from the link on this page with questions, comments, or suggestions. I cannot respond to reviews left by usersso that is not the best channel to reach me.There are piles of keyboards/input methods out there for Androiddevices. But it stands to reason that some keyboards are muchbetter for some tasks than others. Imagine a hypothetical app whichnever accepts alphabetic input. When running this app, you don'tneed a full QWERTY keyboard - something like a 10-key pad would bemuch more efficient. So you may find yourself regularly switchingbetween keyboards whenever you use a certain app. But doing so inAndroid is something of a pain involving at least several stepseach time you switch.Keyboard Master exists to save you this time and hassle! Itpermits your device to "remember" (called a mapping) that you wantto use a specific keyboard each time you run a specific app. Andwhen that app becomes the active task, Keyboard Master takes careof making the keyboard swap and then swapping back when the app isno longer being used.Keyboard Master operates, by default, in a free mode. In freemode you can establish only a single mapping at a time so you cantest how well the app works on your device. This single mapping maybe adequate for some users and, if so, please enjoy Keyboard Masterat no charge.Users with more advanced needs will appreciate the Pro Upgradewhich you can purchase within Keyboard Master (see the optionsmenu). Purchasing this upgrade will enable the following additionalfeatures of Keyboard Master:Removes the limit of only one app-to-keyboard mapping. Therewill be no limit imposed.Enables the optional, automatic capture of app-to-keyboardmappings as you change the selected input method while running anapplication.Enables optional, special processing when a hardware keyboardis detected.Enables the on-demand backup/loading of all settings to/fromyour device's SD card.Enables extra convenience items on the options menu.It will also unlock other, advanced features that may be addedin the future. I can envision future support for device orientationin mappings and special treatment when a hardware keyboard is inuse, to name a few.All of this power and convenience comes at a technical price. Not only does this app require ROOT, but it also must be installedas a "system" app (as opposed to a normal or downloaded app)because only a system app is permitted to swap keyboards in thisway. So once you have downloaded Keyboard Master, you MUST move itto the location on your device where system apps reside. And itmust be moved back prior to full uninstall. Please see the app's Help for all the details.I want to thank the author of this app who's published code hinted at how Keyboard Mastercould accomplish all of this.M U S T - BE - INSTALLED - AS - SYSTEM - APPR E Q U I R E S -- B U S Y B O XR E Q U I R E S -- R O O T
Reset Spen (free) 1.1.1 APK
**** R E Q U I R E S -- R O O T ****Thank you for READING the following BEFOREcommenting/reviewing:For Samsung Note, Note II, and Note III phones (prior toLollipop). Also works on Note 8 tablets prior to Android 4.2.2update. No other devices are supported! THIS INCLUDES NOTE4.Your device likely must have a TouchWiz-based ROM for this appto work. Other ROMs may lack support for the S-Pen settings thatthis app manipulates. You simply tap that app's icon and the quick change isperformed - there is no other user interface and you will onlysee a popup message indicating success or failure. Please email me from the link on this page with questions, comments, or suggestions. I cannot respond to reviews left by usersso that is not the best channel to reach me.I have owned and really loved my Samsung Note for some time now.As an ex-Palm user, the S-Pen stylus was a huge draw. To my dismay,I began to see that over time the accuracy and the location of thefloating pointer of my S-Pen began to drift. I searched and foundmany people complaining about this and saw multiple posts of"fixes" to try. I found one paid app in the marketplace that claimsto deal with this but its price seemed excessive. I recalled thaton my various Palm devices I occasionally had to re-run thetouchscreen calibration routine and began to look for somethinglike this thinking it should be built-in to the Note. But I couldnot find anything that actually seemed to help. After more digging I discovered a technique that seemed to work.Simply changing the S-Pen's dominant hand setting back and forthfrom my choice of Left to Right and back to Left again made a bigdifference. But doing so was inconvenient and it really had to bedone with some regularity to keep things really perfect. After yetmore searching, I discovered how to change the S-Pen device'sdominant hand by communicating directly with the device from code(not the preference setting). This technique requires ROOT accessbut I tired and found it worked well for me.I decided to wrap this technique up in a little app called ResetS-Pen. It uses the same technique and therefore also requires ROOTaccess. Reset S-Pen is available free in the marketplace. Yousimply tap that app's icon and the quick change is performed -there is no other user interface. The app determines your currentdominant hand setting from the Android preference file and thentells the S-Pen device to switch to the opposite hand and backagain. It displays a popup message on success or failure.I have also released Reset Spen Pro which, for a minimalcost, offers additional features and the convenience of having theSpen reset periodically on a regular schedule. Please check itout! Please email me from the link on this page with questions, comments, or suggestions. I cannot respond to reviews left by usersso that is not the best channel to reach me. Spen Power Saving Widget 2.2.2 APK
David P. White
**** R E Q U I R E S -- R O O T **** If you carry a second S-Penthat you prefer to use with your newer Note device, this app willsave the hassle of navigating through the control panel settings todisable the power saving mode and thereby enable use of the secondpen. When you are finished using the second S-Pen, use this appagain to easily re-engage the power saving mode thereby savingprecious battery life. Thank you for READING the following BEFOREcommenting/reviewing: Should work on Samsung Note devices EXCEPTthe Note I phone. Please let dev know what you find. Your devicelikely must have a TouchWiz-based ROM for this app to work. OtherROMs may lack support for the S-Pen settings that this appmanipulates. Do not install to an external SD card. Widgets oftenhave troubles when installed this way. Please email me from thelink on this page with questions, comments, or suggestions.Responses to reviews left by users is not the best channel toresolve issues. This app mainly provides a home screen widget youcan use to simplify enabling and disabling the S-Pen's power savingmode on Samsung Note devices that are newer than the first Notephone models. These would include Note II, Note III, Note 8, andNote 10 devices. Please let me know if you have any issues. One maywonder why such an app is needed or even desired. All I can say isthat someone saw my other S-Pen-related apps and emailed mespecifically asking for this. He leaves the S-Pen that came withhis device in its silo most of the time while he uses a larger andmore comfortable S-Pen. If he tries to do this when the S-Pen'spower saving mode is enabled, the second S-Pen does not function -the S-Pen's touch screen is turned off when an S-Pen is detected asinserted in the device's silo. He wanted an easier and moreconvenient way to toggle power saving off and on again. So that iswhat this app does. This app provides 3 ways to toggle the S-Penpower saving mode on/off. By default, it will only provide a widgetin the widget drawer. Once placed, when you tap the widget, thecurrent state of S-Pen power saving is read and reversed. Thewidget icon changes to indicate the state. Pretty simple but thisrequires root access and a fair bit of research into undocumentedS-Pen mechanisms. Users have requested that this functionadditionally be made available from the notification bar and as ashortcut (so the app can be used in conjunction with other appsthat can embed shortcuts but not widgets in their user interface). These are now included. The use of shortcuts and the notificationare optional and are disabled by default. Please be aware that ashortcut's icon can not be dynamically changed to reflect the stateof power saving mode so it will always look the same. This appearsto be an Android limitation. However, if the toggling is performedvia a shortcut, you will see the icons on both widgets and thenotification change as expected. Adding these new features requiredthe addition of a configuration utility that will now show up inyour app tray (along with the app shortcut should you decide toenable it). Please note that changes to the shortcut setting MAYrequire a reboot to fully take effect. Until then, any shortcutsplaced on a home screen prior to deactivating the shortcut featuremay remain in-place and give an "Application Not Installed" messagewhen touched. The Play Store allows you to use an app for a shortperiod after purchase so you can test it and cancel if you wish. Please use that mechanism to ensure this works properly on yourdevice. If you encounter issues, please let me know via the emaillink provided. Thanks go out to Steve Heistand for the originalidea and his help with development/testing and to Bill Blevins forthe new icons! **** R E Q U I R E S -- R O O T ****
ZoomIt Android 1.3.1 APK
M A Y -- R E Q U I R E -- R O O TPlease NoteFor most Android devices with Honeycomb and above buttestedonly on Samsung Note I and Minix Neo X5 with Jelly Bean. Please letthe developer know what you find. An email link isprovided on thispage for that purpose. So please use it rather thanemploying thecomment/rating mechanism for the app on the Playstore.Basic operation MAY not require ROOT. Advanced operationlikelywill require ROOT. Your results may vary. Please let thedeveloperknow what you find.Be sure to read the full help text accessed from theOptionsmenu of the Settings window when the app is active. After using on your device in free mode pleaseconsiderpurchasing the Pro Upgrade to unlockotherfeatures. Please use the email link shown to report any issues. PlayStorecomments are too limited for this purpose. Thanks!SummaryI use an Android device to turn my TV into a "smart" TV. Thisworkswell in most cases. However my TV's screen is not so largethat, ata distance, I can easily read everything that isdisplayed.Sometimes I need to enlarge the screen image temporarilyto seewhat I need to see. Pinch-to-zoom would help but not all appsofferit. It seems that global pinch-to-zoom capabilities havebeenadded to Jelly Bean 4.2 and above. But manyofus have older devices that will never see this version ofJellyBean. Additionally, the HTPC keyboard/touch pad I owndoesn'tsupport multi-touch operations. So for these reasons Ineeded analternative. When previously using a Windows PC for this purpose, I found agreatlittle program called ZoomIt that worked perfectly for my needs.Aftermuch searching, I have been unable to locate a similar appforAndroid. So I decided to write one and have named it in homagetothe original. While I have received permission to use the namefromthe author of the original, let me be clear that this app ismyresponsibility only.InstallationInstall as you would any normal app from the Play store. Pleasenotethat ZoomIt Android should work on Android 3 (Honeycomb) andaboveonly. Earlier versions may lack the system internals requiredforthis app to work.UsageZoomIt installs an on-going item in the notification bar.Simplyclick it to trigger a screen capture and the display ofanenlargement of that screen capture. You can then scroll aroundonthat image using simple touch/drag gestures. Once you haveseenwhat you were looking for simply press the back button toreturn tonormal operation.ZoomIt operates in both "free" and "Pro Upgrade" modes. Infreemode, very few options are enabled and only Portraitorientation isfully supported. Free mode is intended to permit youto discoverhow well the app works on your device. Pro users gainfull supportof Landscape orientation and additional options tocontrol how theapp works.Free mode always employs a simple mechanism for screen imagecapturethat may alter some screen colors. It MAY not require ROOTon somedevices. Pro users should have a choice of an advancedscreencapture mechanism that reproduces color accurately. However, thislikely requires ROOT.Pro users also have the ability to control a delay beforescreencapture while this is fixed at .75 seconds for freeusers.A final limitation of free mode is the lack of ability tocontrolthe zoom level. It is fixed at 1.5x original size. Thisshould beadequate for most uses and runs the least risk ofovertaxing yourdevice's memory. Pro users will have both theability to specifytheir preferred initial zoom level as well as theability to changethe zoom level while the app is active.M A Y -- R E Q U I R E -- R O O T
System Settings for Tasker 2.6.8 APK
Monitor settings data changes and alert Tasker so it can takeaction as a result
Process Tracker 1.4.2 APK
There are several really great apps availableto track usage of your device's processor and battery. For example,I use Bstats which shows nice graphs of aggregate processor use andbattery drain/charge over time. With it, I was able to see thatsomething was causing lots of processor and battery use at 2AM whenI am always asleep. Sadly, Bstats was not able to tell me whatapp(s) were running at that time so I went looking for an app thatwould. I was ultimately unable to find an app that would show methis information - all showed only aggregate statistics for usagerather than usage at specific points over time. So I wrote ProcessTracker.Once installed, Process Tracker runs at device start-up and thenin the background once every minute (Pro users may change this toonce every 2, 3, 4, or 5 minutes). At each interval, ProcessTracker runs a routine that reveals the top processor consumers onyour device at that time. Process Tracker parses and stores thisinformation for later use. When you tap Process Tracker's icon, theapp will retrieve the stored information and display it in the formof a graph which you can then explore.Depending upon how you configure Process Finder, many datapoints must be retrieved and graphed. But under no circumstanceswill more than 3 days' worth of data be retained on your device.Even this amount can result in graphs that are rather busy and hardto interpret. So you can choose to filter the retained data inseveral ways:* You can filter by utilization of your device's processor -choose to graph only those processes which have had a maximumprocessor utilization greater than or equal to a percentage youspecify.* You can view the list of processes for which readings havebeen taken and Pro users can select those to be graphed and thoseyou do not wish graphed.* Pro users can filter by time - choose to see only the last 24hours, last 48 hours, or all of the data.* Pro users can filter by process type.It is important to note that filtering does not modify any ofthe retained data, it only modifies the graphical view of the data. You may, at any time, choose to clear the data entirely if youwish. Filtering and other options can be set from the app'smenu. The displayed graph can be zoomed via pinch-to-zoom but usingthe on-screen zoom controls is faster and the preferred way to go.You can also drag the graph side-to-side and up-down to viewaspects of the graph in more detail. When more than 10 processes are graphed, no on-screen legend isshown because it is just too busy and takes up too much room. Inthis case, to decipher which colored line maps to which process, use the menu to See and Select Processes. This will present thefull list of those processes for which information has been stored. The processes currently displayed as a result of your filtercriteria are marked with a *, From this list, Pro users can choosethe processes to include in the graph. For convenience, the menu onthis screen offers Check All and Uncheck All options after whichyou can more easily remove or add the processes you wantgraphed.A status bar is shown above the graph to remind you of thefilter criteria currently in use. All filter criteria are retainedand applied until you choose to reset them individually orall-at-once. Filter criteria are also reset when you choose toclear all the stored data.I want to credit the authors of AChartEngine for their excellentgraphing package without which I never would have undertaken thisproject. I also want to thank the authors of Bstats and the otherapps I have used which pointed out the need for ProcessTracker. Please note that this app has been tested on only a few devices. So please use the email link provided on this page to contact thedeveloper if you have any issues. Do not try to communicate viacomments in ratings as it is not a good medium for thatpurpose.
