Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki had receivedthetraining under three different gharanas (schools or stylesofmusic): Gwalior,Agra and Jaipur; yet he did not receive thestampof any particular gharana. He was a thinker and he blendedthesestyles to develop a style of his own. He did not believeinimitation. Considering the timbre of his voice, pitch, rangeandexpressive capacity, he forged his own characteristic style. Hehasplayed instrumental role in rejuvenating marathi classicalmusicand natyasangeet in 60s and 70s.

Later on January 26, 1950, he evenperformed at,yet again, Red Fort on the eve of India\'s firstRepublic Day.Continuing his musical presence, he was invited in theWorldExposition in Montreal.He believed that music has nothing to do with caste andreligion.Although he was a dedicated Shi\'ite Muslim, he was astaunchdevotee of the Hindu goddess of music, Saraswati.Ustad Bismillah Khan was admitted to Heritage Hospital on August17,2006 and four days later, died of a cardiac arrest on August212006.
