The lack of a proper irrigation managementbythe majority of producers in irrigated public areas in the stateofCeará is considered the main factor with direct influenceonproductivity, cost of production, quality of products,andespecially in the environmental issue, where the inappropriateuseof water from our springs could seriously compromise ourfuturegenerations. The initiative in the development of tools toassistthe producer to carry out a satisfactory irrigationmanagement thatis accessible and of easy operation is a goal thatshould always beset as a priority. This work aims to develop anapplication formobile devices, able to use its own database in therealization ofthe daily irrigation time calculation for each cropon a certaindate. Techniques and software development tools wereusedspecificly for the Android mobile platform. The applicationintendsto assist in conducting a management with rational use ofwater inirrigated areas in the state of Ceará, semi-aridnortheast,mitigating the lack of technical assistance specializedinprecision farming, using databases with information necessaryforthe calculation of the need water and subsequent irrigationtimerecommendation. Among the installed databases, it hashistoricalseries of "potential reference evapotranspiration" forthe past tenyears in representative regions where the eight mainirrigationschemes of the Ceará state: Curu-Paraipaba, Pentecostes,BaixoAcaraú, Araras Norte, Jaguaribe Apodi, Morada Nova, TabuleirosdeRussas e Icó-Lima Campos are located and also databaseswithinformation on the "crop coefficient" and "coverage percentage"ofmajor crops exploited on the perimeters. This applicationwasdeveloped to present a new approach to irrigationmanagement,making use of the available mobile phones in order toallow usersto perform the calculation of the daily irrigation timein any ofthe irrigated perimeters of the Ceará state. The use oftheapplication in simulation for the Irrigated Perimeter BaixoAcaraúdemonstrated a reduction of approximately 26% over thecurrent useof water in irrigation, allowing its use be concludedthat providesgood irrigation management and could result in aneconomy of waterrequired to reduce the impact of recurring long andrepetitiveperiods of drought on water resources of the state ofCeará.
