Kalymnos topoguide is a digital field guide for hiking andtourismin Kalymnos Island. The app is the result of a join ventureofAnaDigit and the alternative tourism company Alternet-Greece.Itincludes routes, descriptions and photos for 16 hiking trails and4bike rides. Each trail has an elevation profile, astatisticanalysis, a detailed description, several photos and aPOIs list.Kalymnos is famous worldwide for its endless climbingterrains andthe almost 3000 routes it offers. Kalymnos topoguideprovides alist of the climbing sectors and information and maps fortheirapproach. The application offers detailed off-line maps andanextensive introduction on geography, geology, the mostimportantsettlements and monuments, and the nature of KalymnosIsland. Theapp offers also a useful list of POIs (most island'saccommodationsare included) with a comprehensive search engine. Inthe field, theapplication identifies the nearest route and makeactive navigationto it and then along it, with continuous messagesto the user,while pops-up photos on every interesting or importantterrainfeature close to his position. If the hiker position is morethan20 meters far from the trail, the application warns himandsuggests how to go back. The cartographic company AnaDigit,creatorof the application, has issued hundreds of hiking maps forGreece(eg. maps of Kalymnos,Santorini, Crete, Mt. Olympus,Zagori,Sifnos, Naxos and other Aegean islands). To build theapplicationand ensuring data accuracy, all tracks and cartographicinformationhave been recorded during July 2016.
