Demarcamos arbitrariamente uma data de partida para essapesquisa:o ano 1865. Há exatos 150 anos, a revolução industrial jáestava empleno curso, e a escravidão chegara ao fim nos EstadosUnidos. Aabolição da escravatura marca a necessidade de o homeminventarmáquinas para facilitar o trabalho cotidiano e de criarprocessosque melhorassem a qualidade de vida.Imagine Invento como um museu de ciências criado porartistas.Uma exposição que ambiciona contar a história dasinvenções quecriamos e como, em contrapartida, elas terminaram pornos criar. Ocaráter multidisciplinar da exposição mostra um mundoávido pormudanças e pelas respostas criativas e críticas queasinterpretações artísticas podem oferecer. Ao incorporarasinvenções em suas obras, os artistas, em geral, pensamemdesfuncionalizá-las, afastá-las de sua função original paralhesoferecer uma reencarnação de seu sentido social. A verdade daartenão é a mesma da história. As máquinas servem; a arte nãoestáa serviço. Ao inventar coisas, de fato, inventamo-nos.
