رحل إليها، وكان الداعي إلى تأليفه ما رأى من شيوعالشركباللهومن ضياع مفهوم التوحيد الحق عند بعض المسلمين، وما رآهعندهممنمظاهر الشرك الأكبر، والأصغر، والخفي ،فابتدأ في البصرةجمعهذاالكتاب، وتحرير الدلائل لمسائله، ذكر ذلك تلميذه وحفيدهالشيخعبدالرحمن بن حسن في "المقامات"، ثم إن المؤلف لما قدم نجداحررالكتابوأكمله.موضوعات الكتابركز هذا الكتاب على توحيد العبادة، وهو توحيد الألوهية،والتحذيرمنالشرك الأكبر والأصغر، مع الكلام على توحيد الأسماءوالصفات،وبيانالأدلة من الكتاب والسنة على خطر الشرك، وبيان ما بعثالله بهرسله منالتوحيد.وقد بدأ المصنف هذا الكتاب ببيان توحيد العبادة؛ لأن أكثرالناسفيزمانه قد جهلوا هذا التوحيد، ووقعوا في كثير من الأعمالوالأقوالالتيتنافيه، ثم ختم كتابه بتوحيد الأسماء والصفات ليكون هذاالكتابشاملالأنواع التوحيد الثلاثة".[2]قال الشيخ إسماعيل بن سعد بن عتيق: "طراز جديد في تفهيمالناسمقاصدالتوحيد؛ إذ جعله على أبواب دائرية تنداح كل دائرةبأوسعمنأختها.فالدائرة الأولى: هو معرفة التوحيد الذي بعث اللهبهأنبياءهورسله.والدائرة الثانية: تحقيق ذلك التوحيد.والدائرة الثالثة: الخوف من الشرك بأنواعه.والرابعة: حماية التوحيد.والخامسة: حماية حمى التوحيد"قال الشيخ عبد المحسن العباد : "كتاب التوحيد الذي هو حقاللهعلىالعبيد هو أهم وأوسع كتب محمد بن عبد الوهاب في العقيدة،وقداشتملعلى ستة وستين بابا، أولها باب فضل التوحيد وما يكفرمنالذنوب،وآخرها باب ما جاء في قول الله تعالى:( وَمَا قَدَرُوااللَّهَحَقَّقَدْرِهِ وَالْأَرْضُ جَمِيعًا قَبْضَتُهُيَوْمَالْقِيَامَةِوَالسَّماوَاتُ مَطْوِيَّاتٌ
