The Government Engineering College,BartonHill, Thiruvananthapuram, was founded by the Government ofKerala,India, in August 1999. The institution is located in BartonHill,which is two kilometres from the city centre in Trivandrum.Theinstitute has five major departments: ElectronicsandCommunication, Information Technology, MechanicalEngineering,Electrical and Electronics Engineering and CivilEngineering.ISTE students' chapter of GEC Barton Hill started functioninginthe academic year 2013-2014. The chapter was officiallyinauguratedon September 11th, 2013 by Dr.V.Radhakrishnan, FormerDean, IITMadras. Dr. N.R.Rajesh (Assistant Professor ,MechanicalEngineering) is the present faculty secretary. Prof.SatheeeshKumar S (Assistant Professor , Mechanical Engineering) isthefaculty advisor to the students' chapter. Dr.B.Anil (PrincipalGECBarton Hill and Chairman, ISTE Kerala Section ) assumed officeasthe chapter President on 26th May, 2014.Within a short span of time after its establishment thechapterredefined the frontiers of technical education within thecampus.At present, the chapter is the largest student organizationwithinthe campus with a strength of more than 340 members. Thechapter isactively involved in administrative/academic matters aswell as instudents' technical programmes. the chapter publishes abi monthlycampus newsletter " The Platform".
