The number of cards in the hand startsat 1and there is 1 round like this per player, then the number ofcardsincreases by 1 each round to 8, then there is 1 round of 8 foreachplayer. Lastly the number of cards decreases back to 1 andthenthere is 1 round again per player. In the long version cardsstartat 8, go to 1, then back to 8. Trumps are decided by turningthetop card after the deal. If you have a trump and trumps are notledyou must play the trump. If the number of cards is 8 then thereareno trumps.
