Wehrmacht,focusingmajority of their elite divisions on the Eastern Front onthisrelatively small area, envisioned Panzer spearheadsbreakingthrough northern and southern flanks of the salient toencircle theRed Army forces. However, the Soviets had excellentintelligence ofthe German plan, called Operation Citadel.
