2048 is played on a 4×4 grid, withnumberedtiles that slide smoothly when a player moves them usingthe fourdirection swipes. Every turn, a new tile will randomlyappear in anempty spot on the board with a value of either 2 or4.Tiles slideas far as possible in the chosen direction until theyare stoppedby either another tile or the edge of the grid. If twotiles of thesame number collide while moving, they will merge intoa tile withthe total value of the two tiles that collided. Theresulting tilecannot merge with another tile again in the samemove.Higher-scoring tiles emit a soft glow.A scoreboard on the upper-right keeps track of the user's score.Theuser's score starts at zero, and is incremented whenever twotilescombine, by the value of the new tile. The user's best scoreisshown alongside the current score.The game is won when a tile with a value of 2048 appears ontheboard, hence the name of the game. After reaching the 2048tile,players can continue to play (beyond the 2048 tile) to reachhigherscores. When the player has no legal moves (there are noemptyspaces and no adjacent tiles with the same value), thegameends.
