Paripadal - Paripadal, a classical Tamilpoeticwork, is the fifth book in the Ettuthokai, a Sangamliteratureanthology. Paripaatal contains seventy poems on variousdeities ofthe Hindu pantheon. This is a rare example of religiouspoetry wefind in Sangam literature and is possibly the oldestreligiouscomposition in Tamil. The poems have associated music sothat thesecan be classified as songs. There are eight songs onThirumaal(Vishnu), 31 songs on Kumaran (Muruga), one song on theSea God, 26on the mother Vaigai and four songs on Madurai.

The secularanthology is entirely unique in Indian literature, which are almostreligious during the era. It contains 400 Akam (subjective) poemsdealing with matters of love and separation. Other names forAkananuru include Neduntogai or Nedunthokai ("the long anthology"),Ahappattu, Ahananuru, and Agananuru.As many as 145 poets are said to have contributed to Akananurucollection.
