Description

Oonsoo is a solitaire game played with the beautiful Japanese'hanafuda' deck of cards. The object is to stack the 4 cards ofeach of the 12 suits in order of rank, working with only 12 cellsinto which the cards are dealt. Usually this is impossible, butthen the game lasts only a few seconds. When possible, the game isdifficult and lasts a few minutes. The rules are simple, and movingthe cards around the cells is just a matter of touching the card tobe moved. To make the game easier for beginners each suit has adifferent-colored border, and within this border the rank of eachcard is indicated by a tiny 'bar-code'. However there is pleasurein getting to know these cards, apart from the satisfaction ofstacking the whole deck in the desired order (when it is actuallypossible). Because the games are so short and yet challenging, itis ideal for keeping the mind alert when waiting for something tohappen. But beware - it can also become addictive!

This is really two apps in one. It is a solitaire game very similarto Shisen-Sho, where you remove tiles from the board by tappingpairs that are connected by a path of up to 3 lines that run overempty space, and it is also a way to consult the ancient I Chingoracle. You can just play the game, or you can just consult theoracle, or you can combine the two. The app contains the RichardWilhem translation of the I Ching (and it contains no ads). Each ofthe 64 tiles has a unique hexagram, but the game depends oncomparing the background colors (which are actually two colors withlinear gradient). For each new game the tiles are shuffled and 16new background colors are created and distributed. At any pointwhen playing (and it could be initially without playing at all),you can ask for a reading from the oracle. This will be determinedby the two last (or expected first) hexagrams removed. The randomelement needed for a reading is provided by 1. the initialshuffling of the tiles, 2. the state of the game, and 3. thederivation of the moving lines from the differences between the twohexagrams. The play is timed, so you can beat your own record forclearing the board. When the record has become practicallyunbeatable, it can be reset for another session via a button on theHelp page.
