Es bien conocido que nos encontramos en la erade las infecciones emergentes por microorganismosmultirresistentes; existe además un descenso progresivo de lainvestigación y comercialización de nuevos fármacos que no crea unescenario muy esperanzador.Dentro de la Comisión de Infección Hospitalaria del Hospital SonEspases (Palma de Mallorca, ESPAÑA) se ha querido promover unautilización más adecuada de los antimicrobianos como una de lasposibles soluciones al problema. Una herramienta imprescindiblepara ello es la realización de guías y protocolos terapéuticos. LaComisión ha hecho y sigue haciendo hincapié en su actualización ydifusión. Esta aplicación pone las nuevas tecnologías al serviciode este objetivo.Queremos promover la difusión y utilización de estas guías,haciéndolas más accesibles en la práctica clínica diaria. Laaplicación va destinada a los médicos y farmacéuticos en general, ycomprende tanto aspectos generales del uso de antimicrobianos(prevención de la aparición de resistencias, dosificación eninsuficiencia renal y hepática, dosificación en pacientes obesos,farmacocinética y farmacodinámica, etc), como guías concretas detratamiento por aparatos (respiratorio, digestivo, urinario, etc).Hay que tener en cuenta que se trata de recomendaciones localesbasadas en las situaciones específicas de nuestro centro y en lainformación de sensibilidad antibiótica aportada por el Servicio deMicrobiología del Hospital Son Espases, por lo que algunas de lasrecomendaciones deben ser interpretadas y adaptadas a la ubicacióndel usuario de la aplicación.Un agradecimiento a todos los médicos, farmacéuticos ymicrobiólogos que forman o han formado parte de la Comisión deInfección Hospitalaria y que han colaborado en la realización deeste trabajo.
