Description

Los Caminantes are a Mexican Grupera bandhailing from San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato led bysinger-songwriter Agustín Ramírez. Originally called Los CaminantesAztecas, the group was formed by brothers Agustín, Brígido, Horacioand Martín Ramírez in the mid-1970s. They later acquired Humberto"Pecas" Navarro as their drummer. The band released their debutalbum Supe Perder in 1983 on Luna Records. Included hits, "SupePerder," "Para Que Quieres Volver" and "Dime Si Me Quieres."

Throughout the mid-'80s to mid-'90s, the band had a number ofBillboard chart hit albums such as 1986's De Guanajuato...ParaAmerica! with hit song, "Amor Sin Palabras" ("Love Without Words").Then tragedy happened when the youngest brother, Martín, was killedin a bus accident. In the same year a tribute album, 1987's GraciasMartin, was dedicated to him. They filmed a movie, 1989'sCaminantes...Si Hay Caminos.

Los Caminantes are commonly referred to as Los Chulos, Chulos,Chulos. A nickname given by a disc jockey circa the DeGuanajuato...Para America! era. As they're seen wearing formaltuxedos, "¡Llegaron Los Chulos, Chulos, Chulos!" ("Los Chulos,Chulos, Chulos have arrived!").

Caminantes are also known for their playing of variety RegionalMexican styles, e.g., Ranchera, Corrido, Balada, Cumbia, Banda andMariachi. They have recorded over 30 albums throughout their careerspan and had numerous song collaborations with high-profileRegional Mexican acts (Diana Reyes, Patrulla 81, Polo Urías y suMaquina Norteña, Banda Pachuco, etc.).

Agustín and Los Caminantes continue to record and tour throughoutthe United States, Mexico, and Central America.
