The NAC also examinedseveral different tunes and eventually selected the one presentedby Chagla and submitted it for formal approval. Chagla produced themusical composition in collaboration with another committee memberand assisted by the Pakistan Navy band.The music of the anthem was composed by Ahmed Ghulamali Chagla,with lyrics written by Abu-Al-Asar Hafeez Jullundhri. The threestanza composition was officially adopted in 1954. However, themusic for the anthem had been composed in 1950 and had been used onseveral occasions before official adoption. The composition isunique in a way that no part of the anthem repeats itself. Thelyrics allude to a "Sacred Land" referring to Pakistan and a "Flagof the Crescent and Star" referring to the national flag.Unofficially, the anthem is sometimes referred to by its first line"Pak sarzamin shad bad" (Urdu: "Blessed be the sacred land"). Thenational anthem is played during any event involving the hoistingof the flag.The anthem without lyrics was performed for Prime MinisterLiaquat Ali Khan and later for the National Anthem Committee onAugust 10, 1950.
