Free NIV Holy Bible Audio &BookApp The new international version (NIV) is acompletelyoriginal translation of the Bible developed by more thanonehundred scholars working from the best available Hebrew,Aramaicand Greek texts.

The initial vision for the project was provided by asingleindividual – an engineer working with General Electric inSeattleunder the name Howard Long. Long was a lifelong devotee ofthe KingJames version, but when he shared with his friends wasgrieved tofind that don't connect. Long saw the need for atranslation thatcaptured the truth that he loved in the language ofhiscontemporaries spoke.

For 10 years, Long and a growing group of supporters who sharedrovethis idea. The passion of a man has become the passion of achurchand ultimately the passion of an entire group ofdenominations. Andfinally, in 1965, after several years ofpreparatory study, atrans-denominational and international groupof scholars met atPalos Heights, Illinois and decided to startworking on your project– determination not simply adapt anexisting English version of theBible, but to start from scratchwith the best available manuscriptsin the original languages.Their conclusion was endorsed by a largenumber of church leaderswho met in Chicago in 1966.

A self-governing body of fifteen biblical scholars, the CommitteeonBible translation (CBT) was formed and charged withresponsibilityfor the version and in 1968 the Bible Society of NewYork (who laterbecame the International Bible Society and thenBiblica) generouslyundertook the financial sponsorship of theproject. The translationof each book was assigned to translationteams, each consisting oftwo translators of lead, two consultantsand a stylistic consultantif necessary. The initial translationsproduced by these teams werecarefully examined and reviewed byeditorial boards of five scholarscheck them against the originaltexts and evaluate them forcomprehensibility. Each text was thensubjected to a GeneralCommittee of eight to twelve members beforebeing distributed toselected external critics and to all membersof CBT in preparationfor a final review. Samples of thetranslation were tested forclarity and ease of reading withpastors, students, scholars and layacross the entire range ofaudiences. Perhaps no other translationhas undergone a thoroughprocess of review and revision. From thebeginning, the NIV hastried to bring modern readers of the Bible asclosely as possibleto the experience of early readers Bible:providing the bestpossible blend of transparency to originaldocuments and understandthe original meaning in every verse. Withthis clarity of focus, however, came to the realization that thework to translate the NIVwould never truly complete. As newdiscoveries have been made aboutthe biblical world and itslanguages, and as the rules of Englishusage developed and changedover time, the NIV would also need tochange to keep true to itsoriginal vision.

And so in the original paper NIV, provision was made not onlytorelease periodic updates to the text, but also to createamechanism for continuous monitoring of changes inbiblicalscholarship and use of English. The CBT was charged to meeteachyear to review, maintain and strengthen the NIV renders exactlyandfaithfully God's unchangeable word in modern English.

Free NASB Holy Bible Audio &BookApp While maintaining the accuracy of the ASV 1901,theNASB has tried to render grammar and terminology in modernEnglish.Particular attention was given to the verbs to give theEnglishreader a rendering as close as possible to the meaning oftheoriginal Greek and Hebrew texts. In 1995, the text of the NASBwasupdated for greater understanding and smoother reading. TheNewAmerican Standard Bible on Bible Gateway matches thepress1995.The new American Standard Bible update-1995Easier to read:Steps with Old English "thee" and "thou" etc have been updatedtomodern English.Words and phrases that might be misunderstood due to changesinmeaning over the last 20 years have been updated tocurrentEnglish.Verses with difficult word order or vocabulary havebeenretranslated into English as smooth.Sentences beginning with "and" often I have been back-translatedtoEnglish better, in recognition of differences in style betweentheancient and modern languages English. The original Greek andHebrewhad no punctuation as is found in English and in many casesmodernEnglish punctuation serves as a substitute for "and" intheoriginal. In some other cases, "and" is translated by adifferentword such as "then" or "but" as required by the context, when theword in the original language allows such atranslation.More accurate than ever before:Recent research on the oldest and best manuscripts of the GreekNewTestament was revised, and some steps have been updated forevengreater fidelity to the original manuscripts.Parallel passages were compared and reviewed.Verbs that have a wide range of meanings have been retranslatedinsome steps to better account for their use in the context. And yet the NASB:The updated NASB is not a translationchange-for-the-sake-of-change.The original NASB withstands thetest of time and changes were keptto a minimum in recognition ofthe standard that was set by the NewAmerican Standard Bible. The updated NASB continues the tradition of NASB ofliteraltranslation of the original Greek and Hebrew withoutcompromise.Changes to the text have been kept within strictparametersrequired by the fourfold purpose of the LockmanFoundation. The translators and consultants who contributed to the updatedNASBare conservative Bible scholars who have doctorates inbiblicallanguages, theology, or other advanced degrees. Theyrepresent avariety of denominational backgrounds.Continuing a tradition:The original NASB has earned a reputation for being themostaccurate English translation of the Bible. The updatedNASBcontinues the tradition NASB to be a true translation of theBible, revealing what the original manuscripts say actually. --notjustwhat the translator thinks they mean.New Living Translation (NLT)New International Version (NIV)English Standard Version (ESV)King James Version (KJV)New American Standard Bible (NASB)World English Bible (WEB)New King James Version (NKJV)
