Description

Use your phone as a GPS logger, for example in order togeotagphotos. This app turns on GPS and records your location (oncepersecond) to a log file in standard GPX format. Although you canuseit for other things, such as recording the route when you takeawalk, the main use of these files is to add location data tophotosthat you have taken with a separate camera that doesn't haveabuilt-in GPS. It works as follows: 1. Use this app to record aGPXfile while you take photos. 2. Send the GPX file to yourhomecomputer. You can use the built-in 'share' function to send itbyemail or to Google Drive or similar services, or you canconnectthe phone to your computer via USB and transfer the filemanually.3. Using suitable software on your PC, such as AdobeLightroom,load the GPX file and also the photos that you took.Lightroom canthen geotag (add location data to) all the photosbased on the timethey were taken and the corresponding locationfrom the GPX file.This app is free, contains no ads, and does notrequire internetaccess. There is an option to leave a tip if youlike the software(via the in-app purchase mechanism), but this isentirely optional- all functions are available for free. The GPXposition log filesare kept entirely on your phone and are not sentanywhere (unlessyou send it yourself)! This app won't violate yourprivacy. Whilelogging your location, a clear notification icon isdisplayed toindicate that logging is ongoing. Two cautions: *Although the appmakes an effort to filter out bad data, it doesentirely rely onyour phone's GPS. The recorded logs may beinaccurate if yourphone's GPS is inaccurate. * While logging, yourphone is not ableto enter full sleep mode (it has to keep recordingyour location).As a result the battery will drain faster thanusual. Before usingthis app for a long period of time, try for anhour or so to get anidea of battery usage. Neither of these areunder the app'scontrol, so please be aware of them now. That said,for me it worksfine and I'm using this personally to geotag all myphotos.

leafdigital Kanji draw is a simple application that lets you drawJapanese characters (kanji) using the touch screen. It is intendedfor Japanese language learners who might need to enter charactersin order to look them up in a dictionary or enter them on awebsite. Open source software. Free and no ads. It identifies thecharacter you have drawn using a special form of handwritingrecognition. You can select the correct character from a list.After entering one or more characters, you can copy them into theclipboard as text for use in a dictionary. Note that this will NOTwork - at all - if you don't know basically how to draw kanji. Ifyou just draw something any old way that looks like it, itcertainly won't be recognised. You have to draw charactersbasically the official way. That said there are two forms ofrecognition: exact (you must enter the character with the correctstroke count, stroke order, and direction) and inexact (you mustdraw basically the correct strokes but can use any order anddirection). If the inexact search doesn't find it, you can trysearching for characters with 1 stroke more or fewer than you drew.This might sound complicated but the interface is easy; you getexact results straight away, if it's not there then hit the buttonand wait for inexact results (this takes several seconds, there's aprogress bar), and if it's not there either, you can go onto the+/- 1 results. Notes: - If you've drawn a character and the 'Done'button is still greyed out, this is because it's still loading thedata file. It usually only takes a few seconds, so please wait.This only happens the first time you draw a character afterstarting the app. - Some characters don't work very well if youdraw them in the normal handwriting style. The data is based onprint style. If you have difficulty getting a character recognised,try drawing it like the print version. This program is releasedunder GNU Public License version 3.
