Even though it is one of the smallest rooms inthe house, having a high-quality washroom shouldn't be anafterthought; after all, a bathroom remodel is one of the mostworthwhile home investments you can make. It might not be cheap, but adding updates — like a new bathtub, walk-in shower and doublesinks — will increase the overall value, quality and comfort ofyour home. When you're ready to start the renovation process, it isimportant to consider popular trends as well as your own family'sneeds. First of all, you should consider how best to use the spaceyou have. Think about what your family needs most, and thendetermine if that pedestal bathtub or larger vanity is worth theinvestment. Next, find ways to add more bathroom storage. Addingmore cabinets and shelves to such a small space can be tricky, butit is often crucial for storing towels and beauty supplies. Finally, think about the overall feel of the space. With a creativeuse of materials, even a bathroom can have decorative elements. As you remodel, you want to think about resell value and buyerpreferences, but you also want to think about what you like. Havinga bathtub is key when selling your home, but it might not be agreat use of space if your family doesn't take many baths. Instead, opt for more sink space with a larger vanity and double sinks. Ifseveral people use the same bathroom in the morning, try separatingthe toilet and shower area from the sink so multiple people can getready simultaneously. How to make a super easy, cute, and uniquelunch bag? Now I want to tell you about it. Here we go.For example, I want to make a brown-fabric lunch bag, please watchthe steps below:Step 1: Cut your fabric to make a brown bagTo make your brown bag, you'll need sturdy brown canvas (ask yourfabric store for duck canvas), matching brown thread and your basicsewing tools (scissors, pins, ruler, chalk, sewing machine). To cut your fabric, fold it in half and trace a 16 inch x 14.5 inchsquare using chalk. Cut along your chalk marks so that you cutthrough both halves of fabric. Pin just the long sides together. Myfabric looked the same on both sides but if your sides aredifferent, make sure the the good sides are facing inwards when youpin them together.Step 2: Sew the two pieces togetherSew along the sides that you pinned together, removing pins as yougo. Make sure to leave an inseam of at least 1/4 inch. Iron theinseams down as shown in the picture. After a test run, I startedto do an overcast stitch on all of the "raw" edges to preventfraying. I'd highly recommend you do the same if your machineallows, especially on the bottom edge.Step 3: Fold and sew the bottomTurn your fabric inside out so that the good sides are facing out.Fold and iron each of the long sides 2 inches from the seam like apaper bag would look.Pin and sew along this top edge. Almost done!Well, it is super easy work with lunch bag. For more review, youcan see inside this App!!

Staircase Design Inspirations 1.0

Something out of the ordinaryI received a very interesting email today about strange andunusual staircases. I thought to myself as I opened it, how unusualcould they be? Some of them were downright cool, and others I thinkI would kill myself on trying to climb or descend, and theycertainly wouldn't be a good idea if you like to take a nip or twoor three. Most of stair design would fall under the category of 'not forpeople who entertain a lot', but I guess if you could afford theexpense of building one of these masterpieces, I suppose you couldafford the liability insurance if one of your guests missed a stepor two.Almost everyone has seen wood staircase designs, and spiralstairways, but honestly, these babies take the cake! There aremetal staircases and loft staircases and space saverstaircases...and some of them actually fit into more than onecategory, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Not for the faint of heartWhile none of the modern staircase design that are pictured hereare for the faint of heart, some are definitely worse thanothers! This little gem might be a bit tough to navigate if you have hadone-too-many nightcaps. It would be hard enough to climb sober, andworse if you had a tendency of seeing double. The trip up wouldn't be so bad, but somehow, I can't see me,lost in thought and climbing down these puppies on auto-pilot,never mind for a middle of the night potty trip!Even though there appears to be a set of pretty skookumhandrails, I can already feel the skin being scraped off theinsides of my calves each time I get too close to the edge.Space saversNow these space saver stairs are a tad more climber friendly. There is a decent handrail to hang onto and they are a normalwidth, unlike the set above. The only downside I can see to thesewould be if my son were to look for something and get distractedbefore closing the drawer....I can easily picture an interior staircase design ideas fewstubbed toes and ankle bites, not to mention drawer repairs fromstepping through the bottom of it, ripping it off its rails, orkicking the face plate off in the dark, (depending on which way youwere going at the time!) This set would be perfect for the personwho has an elephant's memory. Definitely not for people likeme!Loft staircaseI had to look at these a couple of times before I could makesense out of their structure. (Maybe it's just me...) Once Ifigured them out, with the help of the second picture showing the'up' view, I thought they rather looked like boxes stackedhaphazardly on top of one another. Not exactly my ideal thoughtwhen climbing them. The 'down' picture had me puzzled for a while. For the life ofme, I couldn't see how I would be able to climb them, as my feetwould just keep slipping down the slopes. (In my defense, I didwrite this fairly late at night.) Either way, this model iscertainly not for me, for many of the reasons I stated with a fewof the preceding sets. You would need to have very good balance the staircase designideas to take these at a run - something I don't have inspades.
DIY Mason Jar Projects 1.0
bombomcar
Mason jars are all the rage for homedecoration. There are a million ways you can decorate with them andhere I'll show you a Fall craft that even your kids can take a stabat. This decoupaged mason jar project cost me less than $5. Ialways have the Mod Podge on hand, and the mason jars only cost mea dollar each from my local Dollar Tree. These Autumn leaves aren'treal, but try using real leaves too. I find that faux leaves workbetter because the decoupage medium soaks through the fabric leaf, allowing for easier application. I purchased the pack of fakeleaves from the dollar store as well. If you know how to decoupage, you know how to do this project! It may take some time, but thiscraft makes great Autumn decor for the home.A sponge brush is optional for this project, as some people tendto just use their fingers to apply. Personally, I like using asponge brush over a paint brush, and I also use my fingers whennecessary. First, make sure the outside of your jar is clean. Wipeit gently with rubbing alcohol to get any grease and grime off theoutside of the jar. The leaves won't stick if the jar is oily ordirty. Then make sure your leaves are malleable. Bend them a littlebit to loosen them up. Stiff leaves won't stick either. If they arethin, fabric leaves, they should easily form around the jar. Ifthey are real leaves, you may want to dampen them slightly (almostthe way leaves become after it rains) to unstiffen them. You canalso iron fabric leaves as well to loosen the fibers. To decoupage, dip your brush in the Mod Podge and paint a thin layer on a sectionof the jar. Once that layer becomes quite sticky (check by dabbingyour finger on it), place a leaf on the jar. Paint more Mod Podgeon top of the leaf in thin layers, making sure to smooth out theedges. Start in the center of the leaf, and push your way out tothe edges with your fingers. It may take a few layers, but the leafshould stick to the jar. I had to press a few times to get theleaves to stick; but as the Mod Podge dries, it should. Don't beafraid to use your fingers to smooth out the leaf so that it isfully secure. Layer more leaves on top, filling the jar with asmany as you desire. I didn't cover my jar fully, as I liked some ofthe negative space in between the leaves. Once all the leaves areon, it will take a few hours to dry completely. The tiny edges ofthe leaves may not stay completely down, but when the look iscomplete, you may barely even notice.Finish off the top of the jar with rafia or ribbon to completethe look. Place a candle inside and watch it light the room withbeautiful orange, red and green fall colors!Features: Canning, Sewing Kit, Candy Jars, Twine Dispenser,Poured Candle, Salt and Pepper, Shakers, Soap Dispenser, StringLights, Photo Frame, Matchbox, Moss Terrarium, Canning Jar, DrinkTumbler, Pendant Light Fixture

Home decorating design is a very popular andgrowing trend. Many homeowners are taking advantage of all thedifferent design ideas and styles that currently home design ideasexist. There are numerous different ways that someone coulddecorate a space within their home. It's possible to decorate anentire home in the same manner, and it's possible to decorate eachindividual space differently. The best part about home decorating is the fact that it'spossible to change a design down the road if you grow tired of it,or if you just want a change. There are certain elements of designthat need to be considered within every space in your homedecorating ideas. These include balance, focus points, harmony, color, rhythm, proportion, and scale in interior design ideas. There are some strategies to help bring a design idea together. This involves emphasizing certain areas of a room and balancing therest of the space out. This makes it easy to decorate around afocal point and draw a person's eyes to a specific location withina room. An example of something that does this is a fireplace.Another example would be a beautiful art piece that hangs on acentral wall. You want to be able to balance a room visually sothat it subtly spreads throughout the rest of the area. This makesit more appealing to the eye and provides a good balancedspace. When thinking about the harmony of a space in bedroom interiordesign ideas, it is helpful to figure out a way to make each ofyour rooms feel comfortable. You want them to be inviting homedecorator and enjoyable places to be when they are being used. The color of a space is a very important aspect. This is wherethings can get very different from home to home. Since mosthomeowners have different tastes in color and design in living roomdesign ideas, it is rare to find a home that looks exactly the sameas another. It is helpful to use colors that are positive andprovide good energy. These colors will help to enhance the value ofa room and can affect a person's emotions who is in it.The rhythm of a space is important to create stimulationvisually through movement. This is a way of providing some type offlow to a space, so that when a person looks around the room theyare constantly being caught by something that is visuallyappealing. It does not work if you just scatter things around theroom in an unorganized fashion. The last part of the process is to remember proportion of smallhouse design ideas and scale. You don't want to purchase furnitureor other items that are too large or too small for the size of theroom. You want to purchase items that are complementary to the sizeof the room and will not cause it to feel out of proportion.
Fireplace Design Ideas 1.0

Fireplaces bring joy to any home. They provide a comfortable placeto gather as a family, they provide heat and light, and they make aroom look beautiful. That is why it is very important to have theright fireplace design for your home. Fireplace designs are a keytool to ensuring your fireplace is a positive element rather thanan eye sore or underutilized component of your home. Fireplacedesign ideas vary widely, but no matter what your tastes, there isa fireplace design for you. When picking out your fireplace designideas, there are many things to consider that will limit yourchoices. You need to make decisions about both the heatingfunctionality of your fireplace and the overall aesthetic of thefireplace in the room. If you are interested in designing afireplace yourself then make sure you do the proper research. Thereare fire regulations and building codes that have to be consideredwhen designing anything for the home, but especially for afireplace. The hazards of an inferior fireplace design can begreat. IT might be a better idea to look for fireplace designs thatwere completed by a professional. You can purchase designs fromfireplace manufacturers or you can find designs for free if you digaround on the internet long enough. My advice would be to hire aprofessional to help you in the design process or show you afireplace design catalog. Electric Fireplaces First, you need todecide what kind of fireplace you will have- a wood burningfireplace, a gas fireplace, or an electrical fireplace. Thisdecision will direct you toward the right kind of fireplacedesigns. Wood Burning Fireplaces If you are planning to have a woodburning fireplace then materials of construction are of particularimportance. Brick fireplace designs are probably the most commonchoice for many reasons. First, brick does not show smoke stainsand second, it does not burn easily. If a fire were to get out ofhand, the brick could keep it from spreading too quickly and allowthe home owner to stop it. In addition, brick will go with almostany decor so it is a good neutral choice. Another common materialfor fireplace design is stone. There are many varieties of stonefireplace such as limestone, marble, slate, or ceramic tile.Aesthetic Fireplace Design Details There are several small detailsto consider when designing your own fireplace or picking out aprofessionally designed fireplace. Details like rounded cornerfireplace designs versus straight ones can make a big difference inhow well a fireplace design fits into your decorating scheme or thearchitecture of the room. Contemporary fireplace designs often usestraight lines and simple patterns while traditional fireplacedesigns might use curved edges and ornate carvings. Another smallaesthetic point is what kind of fireplace tools to set next to thefireplace. Buying discount fireplace accessories at Lowes or HomeDepot might spoil the whole look so make sure you purchasefireplace accessories that match the fireplace design and the roomdecor. Outdoor Fireplace Designs Up until now, I have beendiscussing fireplace designs for inside your home. Of course, people use and build fireplaces outdoors as well. The outdoorsoffers an opportunity to be much more creative and inventive infireplace design. You are not limited by the walls of a room andventilation is not an issue. You do need to be careful about yourplacement because you do not want to be too close to any flammablehazards like tree branches or electrical wires, but your optionsare much more diverse outdoors.

After youfigure all of these things out, then it is time to come up with aplan. How to Choose the Right LocationSome flowers do well in full sun, while others like morning andlate afternoon sun only. Cute Puppies Costumes 1.0

I think that no matter how you personally feelabout dogs, we can all agree that dog costumes are hilarious. Yes,it's true that we are laughing at them, and not with them, but aslong as they're willing to play along with it I don't think there'snecessarily anything wrong with that. It's actually pretty easy to make a costume for a dog, just aslong as you keep a few basic concepts in mind.A simple, standard pattern for a dog costume has only threebasic pieces. Hats are not necessary, nor is covering up any areasthat you probably shouldn't be covering up, if you catch my drift. An additional huge bonus to this pattern is that you don't have toforce your dog's arms or head into sleeves or neckholes; it allattaches together around him while he just stands there.Use some tracing paper or scrap fabric to make your patternpieces. The first piece is a "coat" that covers the back and torso;second, a "cumberbund" that attaches the sides of the coat aroundthe belly, and the "neckpiece or shirtfront" that attaches thesides of the coat around the front (and also down to the cumberbundif desired for your design). Use a tape measure to determine theproper dimensions of these pieces for your dog.You will permanently attach one side of both the cumberbund andthe shirtfront to a side of the coat. Pick a closure device toattach the other sides - I've always used velcro, but buttons orsnaps are fine if that's what you have. If you have a full shirtfront you'll want to add another closure connecting the bottom tothe center front of the cumberbund. You can even dress him as a legendary dog - just addheads. All of these costumes have the same basic structure.Design, embellish and bedazzle your basic pattern pieces inwhatever way works best for you. We found the exact size we were looking for in threedifferent colors. The color we chose was Autumn Blend Countryside. We paid $1.79 per block for them, which was more than I wanted topay, but for a small fire pit, it really doesn't take that many. Webought 17 to start with just to see how they would look and headedback home to play.Digging The Hole For the Fire PitHauling the stacking stones into our backyard was no mean feat! Wehad no wheelbarrow and had to carry them all by hand, in fire pitlandscaping ideas, let me tell you, those things are heavy! Nexttime we do anything with stone, we'll borrow a wheelbarrow! My sonand I placed the stones in a circle on the ground and he marked thearea inside the stones where he would need to dig with ashovel. The Fire Pit ConstructionWe bought three bags of pebbles, (we ended up only using two) and abag of sand, and the remaining stacking stones to make a simplefire pit ideas. We once again moved the first row of stones awayfrom the perimeter of the hole and poured sand around the edge, then leveled it out with the back of the rake, so I stones wouldlay nice and straight. The Finished Product! We put about four inches of pea gravel in the bottom of the pit andbecause we were concerned about the fire safety of the stackingstones, we put some some fire-safe bricks around the inside. (Weremoved these later, but we were chicken the first time we built afire, so decided to err on the side of caution!) And ta da! We werefinished! All told, it probably took about three and a half hours, some heavy lifting, and a little digging.

Masquerade balls were a feature of the Carnival season in the 15thcentury, and involved increasingly elaborate allegorical RoyalEntries, pageants and triumphal processions celebrating marriagesand other dynastic events of late medieval court life. The "Bal desArdents" ("Burning Men's Ball") was held by Charles VI of France, and intended as a Bal des sauvages ("Wild Men's Ball"), a form ofcostumed ball (morisco). It took place in celebration of themarriage of a lady-in-waiting of Charles VI of France's queen inParis on January 28, 1393. The King and five courtiers dressed aswildmen of the woods (woodwoses), with costumes of flax and pitch. When they came too close to a torch, the dancers caught fire. (Thisepisode may have influenced Edgar Allan Poe's short story"Hop-Frog".) Such costumed dances were a special luxury of theducal court of Burgundy. Masquerade balls were extended intocostumed public festivities in Italy during the 16th centuryRenaissance (Italian, maschera). They were generally elaboratedances held for members of the upper classes, and were particularlypopular in Venice. They have been associated with the tradition ofthe Venetian Carnival. With the fall of the Venetian Republic atthe end of the 18th century, the use and tradition of masksgradually began to decline, until they disappeared altogether.Masquerade ball at Château de Hattonchâtel, France. They becamepopular throughout mainland Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries, sometimes with fatal results. Gustav III of Sweden was assassinatedat a masquerade ball by disgruntled nobleman Jacob JohanAnckarström, an event which Eugène Scribe and Daniel Auber turnedinto the opera Gustave III. The same event was the basis ofGiuseppe Verdi's opera A Masked Ball, although the censors in theoriginal production forced him to portray it as a fictional storyset in Boston. Most masks came from countries like Switzerland andItaly. John James Heidegger, a Swiss count who arrived in Italy in1708, is credited with having introduced the Venetian fashion of asemi-public masquerade ball, to which one might subscribe, toLondon in the early eighteenth century, with the first being heldat Haymarket Opera House.[1] London's public gardens, like VauxhallGardens, refurbished in 1732, and Ranelagh Gardens, providedoptimal outdoor settings, where characters masked and in fancydress mingled with the crowds. The reputation for unseemlybehavior, unescorted women and assignations motivated a change ofname, to the Venetian ridotto but as "The Man of Taste" observed in1733; A standard item of masquerade dress was a "Vandyke",improvised on the costumes worn in the portraits of Van Dyck:Gainsborough's Blue Boy is the most familiar example, and areminder of the later 18th-century popularity in England forportraits in fancy dress. Masquerade balls were sometimes set as agame among the guests. The masked guests were supposedly dressed soas to be unidentifiable. This would create a type of game to see ifa guest could determine each other's identities. This added ahumorous effect to many masques and enabled a more enjoyableversion of typical balls. One of the most noted masquerade balls ofthe 20th century was that held at Palazzo Labia in Venice on 3September 1951, hosted by Carlos de Beistegui. It was dubbed "theparty of the century".

Benefits of this enclosure:Flexible design that is completely customizeable to fityourspaceCan be put on almost any surfacePermanent, yet able to be dismantled & moved (greatforrenters!)Can be built by one person, even those with little experiencewithtoolsLight enough for one person to slide, or 2 people to pick upandmove, yet windproof and heavy enough that your kitties can'tcrawlunderneathDrawbacks:Height should be limited to 4 to 5 panels tall (app. 56"-70")Limited ability to add steps and levels to enclosure sidesNo human-sized door (crawl-through access panel only)For this project, you'll need the following toolsandmaterials:A malletA pair of pliers OR a pair of glovesWire cutters/dikes/diagonal pliers (all terms for thesametool)...and that's it.About 6 boxes of wire cube storage1 bag of 1000 7" or 8" cable tiesFor smaller projects, 3 bags of 100 ties each might do, butafterthat you're not saving money by buying the smaller bags.Besides, cable ties - like duct tape - have an infinte number ofuses.Having leftovers is a great thing.DirectionsThere are no directions, but I have many tips for you.Access: Determine how your cats are going to come and go intotheirnew outdoor playhouse before putting it together. If you needapanel with a cat door in it for a door or window, that willcostyou more than the enclosure itself (we had to buy and installanall-weather panel to fit against our sliding-glass door).Design: The 14-inch square panels are strong, and so aretheconnectors, but I wouldn't advise building an enclosure that'smorethan 4 or 5 panels high, and your cats won't need somethingthattall, anyway. The one I built has several sections to it, buttheonly section that's more than 4 high is one on the endtoaccomodate a tree limb for climbing, and that section is only2panels square.Construction: Your mallet will come in handy for tappingthepanels into the connectors securely, squaring up sections thatneedit, and is pretty much mandatory for removing connectorsfromgroups of panels that have already been joined. The nicethingabout these materials is that you're free to experiment andmakemistakes: if you don't like what you've done, just cut thetiewraps, pull it apart and start over. The Access Panel: You have to have a way in yourself toaddgoodies for your cats to lay on and play with, and to get themoutwhen you need to and they don't wanna (although luring them inwitha treat is easier!) This is solved by making a 4-panel sectionberemoveable.

Porch Design Ideas 1.0

Generations ago, the porch was the “living room” of the home. Itwas the social spot — a place to converse with neighbors, cool offin summer and watch kids as they played in the front yard. Porchswings and glasses of lemonade became symbols of the simple life, but as houses, neighborhoods and air conditioning evolved, familiesheaded indoors or to the backyard instead. Today, it is making acomeback as homeowners look to channel those relaxing olden dayswith sun rooms, front stoops and wraparounds. As a transitionspace, your porch should feel like an extension of the home'sinterior. Because it's more attached to the home than a patio orsometimes even a deck, it requires proper planning and a touch ofinspiration. First, you need to consider what kind of space you'relooking for, and where it will be placed. Next, think about whatoutdoor furniture is worth adding to your space. It's all aboutrelaxation and simplicity, so be sure that's reflected in yourdecor and furnishings. The size and type of your porch is primarilydictated by your budget, space and overall look. A typical one isintegrated into the home's roofline, so it will most likely alwaysbe an expensive remodel. Be sure to keep that in mind when creatingyour plans. A wraparound porch takes up quite a bit of yard spaceand often requires a change to multiple areas of the house, while asunroom out back is a little less tedious. Adding a front stoop isa quick way to enhance your front door curb appeal, and it is aless expensive option as well. In general, all of them have apredominantly traditional feel, so you might try a patio or deck ifit doesn't fit your overall style. Doll House Design Ideas 1.0
bombomcar
In the late 1500s, the Duke of Bavaria thought it would be cool tohave designers create a tiny replica of his house and all thefurnishings inside, so he ordered it done and then placed it ondisplay in a place of honor in his house, and proudly showed it offto visitors as his 'baby house'. The elite citizenry were soimpressed that before long, bankers, merchants, and otherbusinessmen began having their own 'baby houses' built, and a hobbywas born. The little houses, by then called 'dollhouses', were usedto show off precious collectors' items their owners had acquiredthrough a period of time. The items were locked up inside cabinets, which gradually led to the dollhouses being called 'cabinethouses'. Many dollhouses were manufactured in England, Germany, andHolland, and they were designed to be mirror images of thelifestyle of their owners. People in England went one step beyondand even the exteriors of the dollhouses looked exactly like theiractual houses―even down to the exterior finishes and interiorfurnishings. Some people went even further and had separate roomsreproduced, such as kitchens, market stalls, and clothing makers. The fittings inside these rooms and shops were carefully designedto reflect the tastes and trends of that particular period of timeand that specific society, such as Tudor, Victorian, or Elizabethanera styles. Dollhouses remained in vogue for the next couple ofcenturies, but the hobby enjoyed a huge resurgence in the 20thcentury. Manufacturers took advantage of the burgeoning hobby byincluding things like electricity and plumbing in the designs.Older dollhouses were repaired or renovated to resemble the newerdoll house design, more modern times and newer styles of houses andfurnishings. Instead of the traditional little houses covered inpaper, wooden doll house, manufacturers began making Tudor stylehouses with metal doors and windows, with housing designs runningthe gamut from modest flats to mansions with garages and bathrooms.Houses were made of wood, and then later, plastic. The most famousdollhouse ever built was manufactured in 1924, when the architectSir Edwin Lutyens designed a tiny house for Queen Mary. The housecontained delicate little items from more than 1500 specialtydesigners―items such as miniature china, sewing machines, grandfather clocks, and even tiny little books by Sir Arthur ConanDoyle. The house is an exquisite artistic display of craftsmanship, and it is currently kept in Windsor Castle. It is extremely costlynowadays to reproduce a dollhouse in a specific style, but manydollhouse collectors don't seem to mind. Tiny little items such asdoll house furniture, light fixtures, alarm clocks, carpets, drapes, and tea sets are expensive and difficult to find. Sometimesthe cost of decorating and furnishing a dollhouse is almost equalto the cost of an actual house! But these tiny houses arecollectors' items and will surely gain in value. There are manytypes of kits available for building dollhouses, but some peopleprefer to design a blueprint for their own creation, dolls housefurniture, and build them from scratch. After building the basichouse, it can be decorated and furnished in whatever style or erayou want to reproduce. Chairs, beds, tables, dishes, flower pots, light fixtures, toys, and sofas - anything you might want toinclude in a dollhouse is always an option. There is even a widevariety of tiny dollhouse-sized people from which to choose! Thedesigns and configurations are endless. So, whenever real lifebecomes too boring or unbearable, consider taking a break fromreality and miniaturize your reality by collecting dollhouses.

I’m sure you’ve no doubt seen the idea for‘DIYSharpie Mugs’ floating around – and I wanted to try my hand atthem.I noticed a lot of people who’ve made them say that theblackSharpie tends to fade rather quickly or doesn’t do well inthedishwasher, so I wanted to do it a bit differently. Enter,theoil-based Sharpie marker. What I used:Cheap ceramic mugs (the cheaper the better) – I chose blackmugsinstead of whiteOil-based Sharpie marker – I used white1-2 Q-TipsRubbing alcoholA pencilInstructions:Ensure the mugs are fully washed and dried to removeanyresidue.Using a pencil, sketch your design on each mug. I, beingthecornball that I am, came up with two cheesy hotbeverage-relatedpuns. It’s not an easy task, drawing on a curvedsurface (or beingso witty!), let me tell you. Just wait until youhave to retracethe sketch with the Sharpie – that’s where therubbing alcohol andQ-Tips come in!Once you’re happy with your sketch, carefully trace it withtheSharpie. Like I said, this is not an easy task. You will messup.About 100 times. More than once. When you do, just dip a Q-Tipintothe rubbing alcohol and carefully rub off what you don’t want.Themarker comes off really easily. Just ensure that you wash themugoff each time you use the rubbing alcohol.I let my mugs sit for a few days before I threw them intotheoven to ‘bake’ the design on them. Preheat your oven to 425°andbake for 35 minutes. To prevent any cracking in the mug, I putthemugs on a cookie sheet and put them into the oven as soon asIturned the heat on – letting them heat up with the oven. Oncethe35 minutes was up I turned the heat off and left them in theovento cool down as well. After an hour or so I took themout.I let them sit for a few days before (hand!) washing and usingthem. And there you have it – your very own DIY Sharpie mugs! Aperfectcustomizable DIY gift!Side note: When I baked the mugs, the white writing did‘yellow’a bit, so I have a feeling that if you use any other colourit willalso change slightly when baked. They still look greatthrough. Ihave heard mixed opinions when it comes to washing them –some saythey are okay in the dishwasher, others say they aren’t andfadequickly. Given the amount of time it took me to design, Ihaveopted not to test them in the dishwasher and to hand washthem.I’ve hand washed them well over 20 times since I made them andtheystill look as good as new!

Masquerade Masks for Men 1.0

Masquerade balls were a feature of the Carnival season in the15thcentury, and involved increasingly elaborate allegoricalRoyalEntries, pageants and triumphal processions celebratingmarriagesand other dynastic events of late medieval court life. The"Bal desArdents" ("Burning Men's Ball") was held by Charles VI ofFrance, and intended as a Bal des sauvages ("Wild Men's Ball"), aform ofcostumed ball (morisco). It took place in celebration ofthemarriage of a lady-in-waiting of Charles VI of France's queeninParis on January 28, 1393. The King and five courtiers dressedaswildmen of the woods (woodwoses), with costumes of flax andpitch. When they came too close to a torch, the dancers caught fire.(Thisepisode may have influenced Edgar Allan Poe's shortstory"Hop-Frog".) Such costumed dances were a special luxury oftheducal court of Burgundy. Masquerade balls were extendedintocostumed public festivities in Italy during the 16thcenturyRenaissance (Italian, maschera). They were generallyelaboratedances held for members of the upper classes, and wereparticularlypopular in Venice. They have been associated with thetradition ofthe Venetian Carnival. With the fall of the VenetianRepublic atthe end of the 18th century, the use and tradition ofmasksgradually began to decline, until they disappearedaltogether.Masquerade ball at Château de Hattonchâtel, France. Theybecamepopular throughout mainland Europe in the 17th and 18thcenturies,sometimes with fatal results. Gustav III of Sweden wasassassinatedat a masquerade ball by disgruntled nobleman JacobJohanAnckarström, an event which Eugène Scribe and Daniel Auberturnedinto the opera Gustave III. The same event was the basisofGiuseppe Verdi's opera A Masked Ball, although the censors intheoriginal production forced him to portray it as a fictionalstoryset in Boston. Most masks came from countries like SwitzerlandandItaly. John James Heidegger, a Swiss count who arrived in Italyin1708, is credited with having introduced the Venetian fashion ofasemi-public masquerade ball, to which one might subscribe,toLondon in the early eighteenth century, with the first beingheldat Haymarket Opera House.[1] London's public gardens, likeVauxhallGardens, refurbished in 1732, and Ranelagh Gardens, providedoptimal outdoor settings, where characters masked and infancydress mingled with the crowds. The reputation forunseemlybehavior, unescorted women and assignations motivated achange ofname, to the Venetian ridotto but as "The Man of Taste"observed in1733; A standard item of masquerade dress was a"Vandyke",improvised on the costumes worn in the portraits of VanDyck:Gainsborough's Blue Boy is the most familiar example, andareminder of the later 18th-century popularity in Englandforportraits in fancy dress. Masquerade balls were sometimes set asagame among the guests. The masked guests were supposedly dressedsoas to be unidentifiable. This would create a type of game to seeifa guest could determine each other's identities. This addedahumorous effect to many masques and enabled a moreenjoyableversion of typical balls.
