The Guide is for the busy primarycarehealthcare provider working at first- and second-levelhealthcarefacilities in Malawi. Brought together in May 2020, itparticularlyaims to support non-specialist healthcare workers whofindthemselves caring for people with mental disorders for thefirsttime. In Malawi, there are three Consultant Psychiatrists forapopulation of approximately 20 million people. It is clear thatwecannot rely solely on specialists to provide mental health care.
