Christmas is an annual festival commemoratingthe birth of Jesus Christ, observed most commonly on December 25 asa religious and cultural celebration among billions of peoplearound the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year,it is prepared for by the season of Advent or the Nativity Fast andinitiates the season of Christmastide, which historically in theWest lasts twelve days and culminates on Twelfth Night; in sometraditions, Christmastide includes an Octave. Christmas Day is apublic holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebratedculturally by a large number of non-Christian people, and is anintegral part of the holiday season. The celebratory customs associated in various countries withChristmas have a mix of pre-Christian, Christian, and secularthemes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday includegift giving, completing an Advent calendar or Advent wreath,Christmas music and caroling, lighting a Christingle, an exchangeof Christmas cards, church services, a special meal, and thedisplay of various Christmas decorations, including Christmastrees, Christmas lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly. In addition, several closely related andoften interchangeable figures, known as Santa Claus, FatherChristmas, Saint Nicholas, and Christkind, are associated withbringing gifts to children during the Christmas season and havetheir own body of traditions and lore. Because gift-giving and manyother aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economicactivity, the holiday has become a significant event and a keysales period for retailers and businesses. The economic impact ofChristmas is a factor that has grown steadily over the past fewcenturies in many regions of the world. While the month and date of Jesus' birth are unknown, by theearly-to-mid 4th century, the Western Christian Church had placedChristmas on December 25, a date later adopted in the East, although some churches celebrate on the December 25 of the olderJulian calendar, which, in the Gregorian calendar, currentlycorresponds to January 7, the day after the Western ChristianChurch celebrates the Epiphany. The date of Christmas may haveinitially been chosen to correspond with the day exactly ninemonths after the day on which early Christians believed that Jesuswas conceived, or with one or more ancient polytheistic festivalsthat occurred near southern solstice (i.e., the Roman wintersolstice); a further solar connection has been suggested because ofa biblical verse identifying Jesus as the "Sun ofrighteousness".

Men Hair Styles 1.2
SRIAPPS
An early example of an eponymous hairstyle wasassociated with the 5th Duke of Bedford. In 1795, when the Britishgovernment levied a tax on hair powder, as a form of protestBedford abandoned the powdered and tied hairstyle commonly worn bymen of that era in favor of a cropped, unpowdered style, making abet with friends to do likewise. The new style became known as theBedford Level, a pun on a geographical feature of The Fens alsoknown as the "Bedford Level" and also making reference to Bedford'sradical ("leveller") political views. It was also known as theBedford Crop. Although natural, the Bedford crop was usually styledwith wax to form a side parting.Justin Bieber in 2009The cover band The Crewcuts were the first to connect hair with popmusic, but they were named after the hairstyle, rather than thereverse. Although eponymous styles are mostly associated withwomen, the "mop-top" Beatle cut of the 1960s (after the rock groupof that name) was one famous and widely copied example of such astyle for men.In the early 1970s the singer David Bowie popularized theso-called "Ziggy cut", an orange-red form of "mullet" associatedwith the rather androgynous image that he promoted through hisalbums The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders fromMars (1972) and Aladdin Sane (1973). To the extent that Bowieduring this period appeared to assume the persona of "ZiggyStardust", the Ziggy cut can be regarded, at least partially, as aneponymous style. In the late 1990s, with the success of "ER", George Clooneypopularized the Caesar-style haircut worn by his character, Dr.Doug Ross. The style worked equally well for both young and oldermen alike, and Clooney's distinguished salt and pepper color becamevery popular. In more recent times the hair of footballers Kevin Keegan, whoacquired a curly "bubble perm" while playing for Southampton in theearly 1980s, and David Beckham gave rise to much copying, but a"Beckham" was whatever style ("buzz-cut", cornrows, Fauxhawk, evenan Alice band) he happened to wear at a given time.A more specific eponymous example was the so-called "Sawyer" ofJames "Sawyer" Ford, the character played by Josh Holloway in theABC-TV series Lost (2004–2010), or the shaggy "Bieber" debuted bythe pop singer in 2008. Some salons charged up to $150 for theforward-combed look. When Bieber changed his hairstyle in 2011, itreceived considerable press. He gave the cut hair to talk-show hostEllen Degeneres, who auctioned Bieber's hair on eBay, earning morethan $40,000 for an animal charity.
