Robin’s Haven of Hope, Inc, is a 501(c) 3non-profit organization that is dedicated to reaching out to thecommunity that is deeply affected by preventable diseases. It isorganized for an educational purpose to help serve the Houston(Harris County) Texas area. Robin Bennett founded it in 2006 withfour pillars of foundation: Awareness, Education, Prevention andGiving Back. The primary goal is education and the need foreducating the community has grown to serve other neighboringcounties as well. The organization provides education onpreventable diseases such as, HIV, Hepatitis B and C, STD/STIs,HPV, Diabetes, Hypertension and obesity. The secondary goal isPrevention. Robin’s Haven of Hope helps the community prevent notonly a list of medical illnesses but also the growing problem inMental Illness, specially the alarming rate of teen suicide.The organization spends time at community outreach events,school assemblies, school lectures, and church functions to educateall types of communities in different age range but especiallyfocusing on the youth. It is the strong belief of the founder thatthe youth of today are in dire need to educate themselves ofpotential hazards in their own community today, to lead a bettereducated generation tomorrow. Robin’s Haven of Hope helps to locateresources to help the infected and those affected by the variousillnesses to better help themselves. These events usually consistof educational speakers from different fields of study on theparticular subject being focused on and relaying the information ina format that is more comfortable for the community to understand.Methods used consist of song, poetry, and visual handouts.Due to the non-profit status of Robin’s Haven of Hope, theorganization survives through donations to not only cover the costof printing event materials, but also food and other event items.The organization is grateful to the facilities that do not charge afee for utilizing their buildings for bringing community awarenessissues to the particular area. Any community outreach oreducational grants are used to offset the cost of HIV/Hepatitistesting or any additional event usage fees. Robin’s Haven of Hopeis a volunteer organization and appreciates all of the sponsorsthat help to make things happen.A non-profit, such as Robin’s Haven of Hope, would be nothingwithout the help of the community and support from localbusinesses. Non Profit Creative is team of creative individualsfrom a small business that dedicate their talents to helpingnon-profits, like Robin’s Haven of Hope, to get the materials theyneed to grow. The non-profits are treated just like anotherbusiness but the marketing materials and website are donated fromthe individuals at Non Profit Creative to help other become awareof the non-profit. ThePetPantry was established to assist qualifying pet owners withtheirpet food needs during these trying times.• Volunteer ProgramOur rescues directly benefit from the generosity of ourvolunteerprogram. The Stay in School Program (SIS) supportslowincome/at risk children and youth who are faced withbarrierskeeping them from staying in school. For example:clothing/lack of;hunger/nutritional snacks; help withstudies/tutoring. And we offereducational and life skills workshopsto empower youth to engage inactivities that will enhance theirability to make a better lifefor themselves. Social and culturalactivities are also provided touplift and surround youth withpositive aspirations. We will belaunching the Lend A Hand Storesoon which is designed to have manyitems available for studentsincluding socks, underwear,toiletries, uniforms, shoes, and otherneeded items. Your supportcan also help to make sure items areavailable for those who are indire need. Just imagine a child goingto school without decent pairof shoes or clothing, tummy hurtingfrom hunger, depressing livingsituations making it impossible toconcentrate...well we know wecannot save the world, but even alittle help goes a long way.Our SIS program began in 2011 engaging 10 students whograduatedout of the program, high school and are going to college.We willcontinue to support as many students as we can beyond givingoutbackpacks and supplies. Lend A Hand started its mission toenhancethe quality of life of less fortunate children and youth in1997.Started its annual back to school giveaway in 2001 with thegivingof 200 backpacks and supplies at a homeless shelter and weareproud to say that to date, we have provided over 53,000backpackswith supplies. We are a small group of individualsdedicated tomake a positive change in the life of others. Everyyear we findourselves facing many challenges as it relates tofunding and mostneeding operating cost.
