The project has won the call for projects “SmartCities and Communities and Social Innovation” of the Ministry ofEducation, University and Research (MIUR) – National OperativeResearch (NOP) and Competitiveness 2007-2013, co-financed by theEuropean Regional Development Fund (ERDF) allocated for the fourConvergence Regions (Campania, Calabria, Apulia and Sicily).Bike Sharing Napoli offers a simple, ecological and economic formof transport for both citizens and visitors, allowing everyone tofully enjoy the city as well as the pedestrian areas while helpingpreserving the city environment.100 bicycles, 10 stations located between the seafront and the citycenter. The intermodal stations encourage the interchange withother public transportation modes and give a quick way to getaround as well as enjoy the city from a different point ofview.The pilot phase of the project will see the installation of 10intermodal stations and 100 bicycles, equipped with GPS andenvironmental sensors that provide location, time information anddata for research.
