Ludopus
How long can you survive in a crowd of alienzombies and other assorted nasties? Can you become a hero by savingthe stranded civilians? Anyone can apply to be a Solo Hero;everyone has the potential but the odds are always against you.Solo Hero is a top-down arcade shooter game with a dash ofstategy thrown in for good measure. It's easy to pick up and playbut difficult to put down and has limitless variation. Rack up abig score to get your name etched in the Hall of Heroes and thenchallenge your family and friends to beat it. It's the only way toprove yourself as the undisputed local hero. The level you manageto reach and the duration of your survival are also shown on thehigh-score table for extra bragging rights. Don't get complacentthough; there are still medals to be earned for exceptional play.First, the "Saviour" medal is awarded for saving 10 or morestranded civilians. Second, the "Excelsior" medal is given to thosebrave enough to start in "Expert" mode. Finally, the "Warrior"medal is given to those who deliver a coup de grace on 5 or morerivals. Medals are shown next to your name in the Hall ofHeroes.Early game play lets you get used to the controls but thedifficulty ramps up quickly. As you progress through the eightfeatured levels new elements are introduced which all combine andbuild to a final frenzy of action where even the most hardenedgamer will be surviving second-by-second on reflexes alone.Solo Hero departs from the classic two-joystick aracade actionand instead uses a simple point-to-command interface reminiscent ofReat-Time Strategy (RTS) games to produce a different game dynamic. This creates a unique gameplay experience within the genre; openingit up to a wider audience while still supplying aficionados with anew and interesting challenge to enjoy.Players must balance their survival against trying to save asmany civilians as possible. The civilians can be herded and willalso gather for you; but they can behave temperamentally so caremust be taken to keep them follwing you. To maximise your rescuebonuses you must have as many followers as possible at the end ofeach level. Followers will drain your health to recuperate theirsbut will automatically gather extra health and heal you if they areat maximum health and you are not. Try to keep them healthy toincrease your end-of-level bonus. Civilians, whether they are yourfollowers or not, are vunerable to your actions as well as thevarious marauding nasties. So be careful who gets hit in thecrossfire; and that goes for you too!The cartoon style and emphasis on fun play ensures suitabilityfor most audiences though don't be fooled into thinking it won'traise your pulse rate. Imagine you've just set off a chain reactionof explosions in the only area free of nasties! or perhaps you'rerunning straight for the main horde of alien zombies only torealise you've run out of ammo! or... well, we're sure you've gotthe picture.Features...In Solo Hero you can play as Arthur - the single-minded21st-century man-about-town ready to become the saviour of themasses or as Martha - the independant modern woman; capable andwilling to put herself in harm's way to save others, it's up toyou.
