Kubbee: A free mobile English language learning app. Coproducedwitha women’s group in Glasgow, this language learning app isbased onthe personalised needs of community members. There arefour tuitionlanguage options. These include: Romanian, Slovak,Polish andHungarian. The app has three learning sectionsincluding: MyLessons, My Cards and Situations. Vocabulary buildingis based onthree themes: health, school and family. Words arelearned through amultiple-choice format. The unique and innovative‘create a card’feature within My Cards section allows learners tocreate their ownlearning content by producing personalisedflashcards to documentand learn new vocabulary. Practice reading,listening and speakingskills with audio, visual and writtenlearning content. No internetconnection is required to use thisapp. STEP is the Centre forMobile Cultures and Education withinMoray House School ofEducation, University of Edinburgh. TheCentre’s overarching aim isto improve educational outcomes forchildren and young people frommobile cultures.
