Dérive lets you alter the tempo of music intime with your walking pace.This version features brass music and has been designed tocelebrate the traditions of brass marching music as part of theBRASS: Durham International Festival, 2015.Create a journeyDérive has been designed to enable you to create and save yourown brass musical journeys. Just touch the ‘Start your journey’button, select music tracks from the app’s library of brass musicand start walking. The app uses your first ten steps to determineyour ‘normal’ walking pace. If you speed up your walking pace thetempo of the music will also speed up, and if you slow down, sowill the tempo of the music. As you walk, the app willautomatically map the route you take. Simply touch the ‘Save’button to finish and save your journey.Share and discover journeysYou can share your own journey with the Dérive app community andvia Facebook and Twitter.Access your ‘Saved journeys’ or discover journeys that have beenshared by other app users and have fun trying to match their pace(the app will work out an average tempo based on the originaljourney and alter the tempo of the music accordingly).Features· Create and save your own unique musical brass journeys byaltering the tempo of the music in time to your walking pace.· Select and listen to tracks from the app’s unique brass musiclibrary as you’re walking.· Monitor the number of steps, duration, BPM and distance of yourjourney.· Follow the parade routes of the Durham Miners’ Gala by selectingone of the pre-made Miners’ Gala journeys.· Share your journey with the community of Dérive app users and viaFacebook and Twitter.· Select ‘Saved journeys’ to follow previously mapped routes andmatch your steps to the saved tempo.· View and select journeys created by the Dérive community on themap.Further informationDérive merges the Situationalists’ idea of experimental behaviourand drifting through a landscape with the Durham Colliery Bands’legacy of designated processional routes. It contains a uniquelibrary of brass music, some of which has been especially recordedfor the app by the Durham Miners’ Association Brass Band.
