Itfeatures a CW paddle type interface with a dit key and a dash keyto enter the characters. This is good way to practice generatingMorse code. This practice can solidify skills in learning andforming the Morse code characters. This skill can translatedirectly to sending CW on the ham radio bands if you have anamateur radio license. If you don't have a license, it can be funto impress your friends with messages you composed with Morsecode.Features:-Full Iambic keyer.-Send entered text by SMS or email-Iambic mode can be turned on and off.-Adjustable auto word spacing.-Easy adjustment of side tone frequency (200 – 1500Hz).-Easy adjustment of WPM.-Adjustment of sound envelope to affect quality of sound.-Stand alone keyboard in pro version.This is the free version and has the same functionality as thepro version, but contains ads and does not contain a stand alonekeyer. Using this app is a good way to evaluate if this works wellon your device.The keyer is a full Iambic keyer with one caveat. If you pushthe dah key, then press the dit key, the characters will alternatelike an Iambic keyer. The issue is if you lift your finger off ofthe dah key, the output will stop instead of continuing to repeatthe dit character. This is due to the way Android multi-touchworks. In the same scenario, lifting the dit finger will allow thedah characters to continue.Morse Code Keyer features a settings screen where screen layout,keyer and sound settings are adjustable.The layout options consist of turning on and off a small popupwindow. This window will show the dits and dahs as they areentered. The side of the screen the dit key is on can be adjusted(right or left). There is also an option that affects thevisibility of the words per minute (WPM) slider.For the keyer you can adjust whether or not the keys shouldrepeat. For example, holding the dah key repeats the dah key at thecurrent WPM setting. Iambic mode is also adjustable. With this onand when both keys are pressed, the dits and dahs will alternate.The auto spacing feature is also adjustable. This adds spacesautomatically at word boundaries.The sound setting that is adjustable is the rise and fall timeenvelope percentage. The percentage is of the total dit time.Longer values will make a softer sound, while shorter values givethe sound more punch.Thank you for your interest in Morse Code Keyer. Morse Player will convert text into Morse code (CW) sounds. Ithastwo modes, real time and text file encoding. In real timemode,characters entered from the keyboard will be played as theyaretyped. In file mode, a file can be loaded and played back asCW.Using Morse Player is a good way to go from knowing the Morsecodecharacters to hearing words. It is not designed to specificallybea trainer, but training files could be generated and used tolearnthe characters. For example, I’ve created files with ham radiocallsigns to help in call sign recognition for CW amateurradiocontesting. Also, using the real time mode and typingthecharacters is a good way to learn their sounds. Free publicdomainbooks from http://www.gutenberg.org can be downloaded andplayed asMorse code in Morse Player. Listening to these books inMorse codeis a good way to improve conversational CW copyingskills. The onlyfile format supported is UTF-8. The 'Manage' menu selection will navigate to theSave Textactivity without adding a memory location. Version 1.0.11added theringtone feature. You can save any of the saved Morsecode phrasesas a ringtone by long pressing the saved item andchoosing generateringtone from the menu. This will ask for thename of the ring tone.This is the name that will identify the ringtone to the system.After choosing a name, the file will be encodedto the Ogg Vorbisformat and will be added to the ringtone,notification and alarmsdatabases. They will be accessible to usefrom the Android soundsettings. When you delete a phrase theringtone will be deletedalong with it. This app only generates theringtones. You must go tothe android sound settings to use it as aringtone. The ogg-vorbiscode runs in the native layer and isprocessor specific. It was donethis way because it encodes muchfaster. It was first tried as pureJava and it was painfully slow.The drawback is that it may not runon some platforms. It has onlybeen tested on AMR processorplatforms. If the app crashes whileencoding, please forward me theinformation and I will try toresolve it rather than writing a badreview. With version 1.0.4,the READ_PHONE_STATE privilege isrequired. This will only be usedto detect if a call is answered, sothat the Morse code that isplaying can be stopped. Version 1.0.9added theACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION privilege requirement. This is onlyused tohelp tailor ads that are location specific. Version 1.0.11addedthe WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE privilege requirement. This is soringtone files created with Morse Player can be created and deletedinexternal storage. This is the free version and using it is agoodway to evaluate if Morse Player works on your device. Itsfullyfunctional and contains ads. The paid version has the adsremoved.
