Concerns of Police Survivors is a nationwide not-for-profitorganization with 53 Chapters around the country. Members ofC.O.P.S. are always prepared to help survivors when they need it,where they need it. The organization’s mission has always been to“rebuild shattered lives” of the survivors. C.O.P.S. has amembership comprised of more than 35,000 people who have identifiedthemselves as survivors nationwide. Unfortunately, that membershipcontinues to grow as 140-160 law enforcement officers are killedevery year in the line of duty. Mission Statement: Concerns ofPolice Survivors, Inc. (C.O.P.S.) provides resources to help in therebuilding of the lives of surviving families and affectedco-workers of law enforcement officers who have died in the line ofduty as determined by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),Public Safety Officers' Benefit (PSOB), National Law EnforcementOfficers' Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) or Fraternal Order of Police (FOP)criteria. Furthermore, C.O.P.S. provides training to lawenforcement agencies on survivor victimization issues and educatesthe public of the need to support the law enforcement professionand its survivors.
