Description

This App was developed to serve asahumanitarian service to the people of Cyprus. It helpsprimarilyCypriots but also tourists visiting the northern part ofCyprus tofind a particular village. Following the 1974 Turkishinvasion, theTurkish authorities have changed the names of allvillages and allother toponyms in violation of internationalconventions and laws.Since there is also lack of appropriate signsdepicting the namesof villages in all languages spoken by Cypriots,it is practicallyimpossible, even for displaced persons to locatetheir own home.This application facilitates Cypriots and touriststo navigate onthe northern occupied part of the island, byproviding an easy wayto view a village's name in both Greek andTurkish. It alsoprovides the facility to place markers.

As many other organisations and individuals. we at Map Your Mealwould like to see a world where food is sustainably produced,healthy for people and planet and traded fairly. Hence, the idea ofhaving an App that puts together different data about current foodsystems to generate a picture that can stimulate reflection onethics behind our food and trend ethical dimension of foodproduction into the mainstream. We believe that being informed is agood first step to think about our own attitudes and behaviours,and to start imagining the desirable futures and maybe even takeaction to make it happen. As research from countries engaged in theMap Your Meal project show, ethics matter to a considerable numberof consumers. Food and drink producers, who can demonstrate theircommitment to sustainability and equity, and furthermore candemonstrate that ethics are already ingrained in their sourcingpolicies, working practices etc., have more appeal to customers.Our approach is then to show the positive, to reward the efforts ofcompanies to run their business ethically and to inform consumersabout their consideration for ethical conduct. We hope that thisapproach can contribute to encouraging manufacturers and retailersto promote further the idea that ethics in food matters and that wemight have our share in increasing business competition to drive upstandards and mainstream ethics and concern for sustainability intheir operations. We hope that our project can lead to prioritizinginformation about ethical issues. We know it is possible, as thereare an impressive number of production companies and retailers whounderstand that problem and appreciate the importance of theinformation about their sourcing policies or environmental impacts.Our current choice of data and indicators is primarily based oninformation that is already available on product packaging as thisis what average consumers have access to/and rely on when shopping.In this approach we are inspired by the European Food InformationCouncil analysis which states that both manufacturers and consumersalike rely heavily on labels for information on health and safetyhttp://www.eufic.org/article/en/artid/labels-consumer-choice/. Thismeans that they could also rely on labelling for information onsocial and environmental issues. In addition to that, the extent towhich all of these indicators are interconnected in means that itis impossible to consider them separately, and that it has beennecessary to adopt a particular mechanism to categorising them.However, we recognize that this categorization is provisional andserves a particular purpose of making the landscape easier tonavigate. You can read the details and reasons foromitting/choosing a certain aspect and indicator in ourmethodology. Hence, neither our Greenness nor Fairness scoring canbe treated as a factual conclusion. We most certainly don’t intendto advise you what to buy and what not to buy. The "Using democratic dialogue toreinventdemocracy" Structured Democratic Dialogue Process (SDDP)has beenorganized by Future Worlds Center in order to engage youthinenvisioning and designing their own idealsocio-political-economicenvironments. The 5-day long event tookplace at the Venus BeachHotel in Pafos, Cyprus between the 28th ofJune and the 3rd of July2012.Two SDDPs focused on developing a vision and identifyingobstaclespreventing societies from reaching their ideal vision. Therootproblems identified were: the repletion of the paleolithicsystemand the non-development of the political system.This App does not include the tree of influences or the actualfinalresults. Το κάθε παραμύθι αποτελείται από 16 εικόνες οι οποίεςσυνοδεύονταιαπό αφήγηση. Στο κάθε παραμύθι είναι ενσωματωμένα δύοεκπαιδευτικάπαιχνίδια. Το Παζλ (Puzzle) "σπάζει" την κάθε εικόνα σεαριθμόκομματιών ανάλογα με τις ρυθμίσεις. Η Σειροθέτηση(Sequencing)αναπαράγει τις σελίδες του παραμυθιού σε μικράεικονίδια και τοπαιδί καλείται να τα τοποθετήσει με τη χρονολογικήσειρά πουεξελίχτηκε η ιστορία. Το συγκεκριμένο προϊόν αναπτύσσειτηνικανότητα σειροθέτησης, ακουστικής και οπτικής μνήμης. Τοπροϊόνείναι πιθανόν να καταγράφει ανώνυμα τους χρόνους κατά τουςοποίουςπραγματοποιούνται επιλογές με στόχο τη συνεχή αναβάθμισητηςσχετικής έρευνας. Το παραμύθι είναι διαθέσιμο μόνο σταΕλληνικά.Each story consists of 16 images, accompanied bynarration. In eachfairy tale two educational games are embedded.Depending on theprogram’s settings, Puzzle ‘breaks’ eachillustration in a numberof puzzle pieces. Sequencing reproduces thestoryline’s pages insmall icons, and the child is asked to orderthem in thechronological order that the story was unfolded. Theseprogramsdevelop the sequencing ability as well as auditory andvisualmemory. With aim the advancement of research, anonymousrecordingof the time taken for the players choices is sent to theauthorsR&D team. The Tale is currently available only in Greek.
