We are undertaking PREDICT, the most ambitious nutrition studyofits kind ever conducted to understand our individual responsestofoods. The PREDICT study investigates the different bloodbiomarkerresponses people have to foods. By collecting data onthousands ofpeople, we hope to predict individual blood biomarkerresponses tomany different foods based on unique individualcharacteristics,such as the bacteria in our gut. Over a period of14 days, eachPREDICT study participant will: • Eat prescribed orstandardisedmeals, mainly for breakfast. • Have a number ofclinicalassessments and tests, such as physical measurements bothat theclinic and at home. • Provide blood, saliva, urine andstoolsamples at the clinic and at home. • Use this PREDICT app torecordall foods and drinks consumed as well as record otherelements ofthe study • Use wearable devices to monitor sleep andexercise fortwo weeks. At the end of the study, each participantwill get asummary of their food responses to help them choose theright foodsfor them The PREDICT Science team is led by Tim Spector,Professorof Genetic Epidemiology at King’s College and Director ofTwins UK,and is a multi-disciplinary team of top scientists fromrenownedinstitutions around the world, including Harvard UniversityandUniversity of Oxford. The scientific advisory board includesworldexperts in the areas of stool extraction, metagenomics,gutmicrobiome, hunger, obesity, nutrition and metabolomics. Thestudyitself is building upon 25 years of research on 13,000twins,probably the most studied group of people on the planet,withstrong associations between the microbiome and our responsestofood.
