The Constitution of Bangladesh (Bengali: বাংলাদেশেরসংবিধানBangladesher Shongbidhan) is the supreme law of Bangladesh.Itproclaims Bangladesh as a secular democratic republic, declaresthefundamental rights and freedoms of Bangladeshi citizens, spellsoutthe fundamental principles of state policy, and establishesthestructure and functions of the executive, legislative andjudicialbranches of the republic. Passed by the ConstituentAssembly ofBangladesh on November 4, 1972, it came into effect fromDecember16, 1972. The constitution proclaims nationalism,democracy,socialism and secularity as the national ideals of theBangladeshirepublic. When adopted in 1972, it was one of the mostliberalconstitutions of the time (Source: Wikipedia).
