Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, OM (6 February1945– 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter, musicianandguitarist who achieved international fame and acclaim,blendingmostly reggae, ska and rocksteady in his compositions.Starting outin 1963 with the group The Wailers, he forged adistinctivesongwriting and vocal style that would later resonatewithaudiences worldwide. The Wailers would go on to release some oftheearliest reggae records with producer Lee "Scratch" Perry.
After the Wailers disbanded in 1974, Marley pursued a solocareerupon his relocation to England that culminated in the releaseofthe album Exodus in 1977, which established hisworldwidereputation and produced his status as one of theworld'sbest-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than75million records. Exodus stayed on the British album chartsforfifty-six consecutive weeks. It included four UK hitsingles:"Exodus", "Waiting in Vain", "Jamming", and "One Love". In1978 hereleased the album Kaya, which included the hit singles "IsThisLove" and "Satisfy My Soul".
