Description

The Apostolic Fathers is a term usedtodescribe a group of Early Christian writings produced in thelate1st century and the first half of the 2nd century. Thesewritings,though not unpopular in Early Christianity, wereultimately notpart of the New Testament once it reached its finalform. Many ofthe writings derive from the same time period andgeographicallocation as other works of early Christian literaturethat did cometo be part of the final form of the New Testament, andsome of thewritings found among the "Apostolic Fathers" seem tohave been justas highly regarded as some of the writings (thatremained) in theNew Testament.

Fragments of the writings of Papias, which have survivedasquotations in later writers
One short fragment of a writing by Quadratus of Athens
