Description

한라대 도서관은 대학의 기능인 학문창조의 연구기능, 학문을 전수하는 교육기능과학문을 응용·보급하는 봉사기능 등을 충분히 발휘할 수 있도록 지원하고자 『한라공업전문대학』개교와 함께 1995년 4월남관 2층에서 개관하였다. 그러나 날로 성장·발전하는 대학교육의 질적 향상을 뒷받침하기 위해서 보다 큰 규격의 현대적도서관이 절실히 요청되어 현재의 도서관으로 이전하였다. 국내·외 전문도서, 학술지, 교양지, 비도서자료 등을수집·정리하여 이용자에게 신속히 정보를 제공함으로써 학문연구 및 기술개발, 학습, 교양활동 등을 지원하고 있다.

현재의 도서관은 1996년 8월에 본관 8층과 9층으로 이전·개관하여 자료의 이용에 중점을 둔 완전개가식으로운영하고 있다. 1997년 3월 4년제 일반대학으로 개편함에 따라 『한라공과대학교 도서관』으로 명명하였고, 1998년6월 교명변경에 따라 『한라대학교 도서관』으로 명칭을 변경하였으며 2005년 3월 도서관과 전자계산소를 통합하여『한라대학교 학술정보원』 으로 명칭이 변경되었다.
도서관에서는 이용자들의 욕구를 충족시키고자 INTERNET 구축 및 음영도서실 설치, LINNE T(S/W)을 이용한WEB 검색 등이 가능하도록 하였다. 위성방송 시청 및 시·청각을 이용한 직·간접 문화 습득, 비도서자료를 이용한 학습과연구 등으로 효과적인 도서관 이용과 생동하는 도서관의 모습을 추구해 나가고 있다.

전자도서관은 2001년 11월에는 한라대학교 KISTI간의 "한라대학교 전자도서관 구축에 관한 공동 연구 협약서를체결하여
1년여의 작업기간을 통해 전자도서관을 구축하여 운영하고 있다. 2002년 11월 오픈한 전자도서관은 학술 및연구활동에
필요한 정보를 인터넷의 Web을 이용하여 이용자들이 언제, 어디서나 자료의 원문까지 이용할 수 있도록 서비스를 제공하고,Web 형태의 전자출판시스템 등을 구축, 수준 높은 도서관 이용 환경과 함께 다양한 CONTENTS와 자료를 제공하고있다.

앞으로 도서관은 최신정보획득과 연구활동지원을 위한 적극적인 서비스 및 시스템 운영을 계획하고 있으며, 다양하고심층적인 정보자료의 확보에 최선을 다하고자 한다.
