Users can browse the specieslist by common or scientific name (and by family name ) to locate aplant and access photos and related information. However, mostusers will rely on the easy-to-use search key to identify plants ofinterest.The search key consists of thirteen categories: type of plant(wildflower, shrub, or tree), petal color, flower shape, number ofpetals, leaf arrangement, leaf type, leaf shape, leaf margin,texture, size, habitat, vegetation zone, and flowering month. The app provides images, species descriptions,range maps, bloom period, and technical descriptions for over 325common wildflowers, vines, and grasses found in the Fort WorthPrairie region and parts of the West Cross Timbers. Most of thespecies included were taken from several field locations in whichBRIT staff has worked. Most plants presented are relatively commonwithin their habitat, and this list includes native, introduced,and invasive species. We have also included some introduced speciesthat are commonly seen in landscapes. The app does not need anInternet connection to run, so you can use it no matter how remoteyour wanderings take you.The app's search key is broken down into nine simple categories:type of plant (e.g., wildflower, vine, grass), color, flower shape,fruit or seed shape, leaf arrangement, leaf shape, leaf margin,texture, and height. Select choices in as many or as few categoriesas you wish. As you do so, the number of species found is displayedat the top of the page.
