Tarif elektrik jugatidak terkecuali daripada mengalami kenaikan apabila diumumkantarif baru yang mula berkuatkuasa pada 1 Januari 2014. Dalam isuseperti ini, sebagai rakyat yang matang dan bijak rakyat Malaysiaperlu menghadapi kenaikan tarif elektrik dengan mengawasipenggunaan meter elektrik domestik di rumah. Sebagai alternatifkepada masalah ini, kami sekumpulan pembangun perisian Android yangterdiri daripada pelajar jurusan Kejuruteraan Elektronik danKejuruteraan Komputer dari UTeM telah mengambil inisiatif untukhadir dengan satu applikasi Kalkulator Bil Elektrik. Denganapplikasi ini, kita akan dapat mengetahui status semasa bilelektrik domestik sebelum bil elektrik dari pihak TNB sampai dirumah kita. Applikasi ini dapat membantu rakyat Malaysia sentiasamengawasi kenaikan bacaan meter elektrik dengan memasukkan nilaibacaan semasa dan dibandingkan dengan bacaan terdahulu yangterdapat di bil elektrik yang terkahir diterima dari pihak TNB.Pengguna akan memperoleh bil elektrik terkini dan secara tidaklangsung pengguna dapat mengetahui samada penggunaan elektrikdomestik di rumah berada di tahap rendah, sederhana atau tinggidengan merujuk kepada penggunaan elektrik terdahulu sekaligus dapatmenjimatkan penggunaan elektrik.
