A BRIEF HISTORY OF SCHOOLThe school was established in the year 1983. Due to the earnestrequest and demand of the people, Rev.Fr Callistus Malikal CMI tookthe initiative to start an English Medium School, thus to givebetter education to the children of the locality. This unaidedschool is affiliated to CBSE (No.930385 Year 2002) up to thesecondary level and is directed by the Little Flower EducationSociety, Coimbatore, which is duly a registered one.

St. Francis School, Palayur, is an Englishmedium Co-educational school conducted by the Franciscan Fathersand Brothers who are members of the Third Order Regular (TOR) ofSt. Francis of Assisi, after whom the school is named. It isgoverned by the Franciscan Society which Is a Religious andCharitable Organization registered under the Societies RegistrationAct 1860.Staffed by dedicated and highly qualified Fathers, Sisters andteachers, the TOR Franciscans run many schools in India and abroad,in which young people belonging to every creed, social class,community and linguistic group are educated through the medium ofEnglish and other regional languages. The school is named after the immortal St.Francis of Assisi. According to a survey, he is greatest man bornduring the second millennium. Men and women, regardless of creed,colour and nationality, have acclaimed him as the world's mostinfluential social religious reformer.Francis was born in Assisi, Italy, in 1182 as the son of PeterBernadone and Picca. He received his primary education at St.George Church. At the age of fourteen he joined his father'sbusines as a merchant. He enjoyed music and dance and was verypopular among his friends. At seventeen he was drawn into civil warin the city. When he was twenty years old, Assisi was defeated in awar with Perigia and Francis was imprisoned. When released, Francisreturned home in broken health. But on the way he fell ill. Duringhis recovery he had a mysterious dream which changed his lifecompletely.
