Glen Iris Junior Football Club, morecommonlyknow as the ""Gladiators"" was founded in 1987. We are aMelbournebased Junior Australian Rules Football Club and in 2013Season wehad over 500 registered players and fielded 20 teamsincluding U12and U14 Girls sides. The age of our players variesfrom U9 throughto Colts (U16/17) with no senior affiliation.We welcome both new and returning players and have teamsplayingin the Yarra Junior Football League - YJFL.Importantly we are an extension of Auskick, NOT an alternativetoit. We accept both boys and girls over the age of 7 years,withtraining typically on Friday nights in preparation for interclubgames played on Sundays during winter.Our indirect affiliation with Football Victoria allows ourolderplayers to be selected to participate in interleague games aswellas possible consideration for selection in TACdevelopmentsquads.Our aim is to promote the game of Australian Rules Footballanddevelopment of junior football. In doing so we hope to nurtureandenhance the development and improvement of football skills andtopromote attitudes of good sportsmanship, temperament,cooperationwith others and character in children.We encourage participation, regardless of ability bymaximisationof enjoyment while placing winning in perspective andencouragerespect for others including umpires, opponents,officials andfellow players. We strenuously oppose all forms ofverbal, racialand physical abuse and to encourage best practicemethods ofcoaching.We achieve our aims through an environment that encouragesfamilyinvolvement. Our operation is only possible through thesupport ofparents. Each team has a coach and Team Manager. Parentsof ourplayers primarily fill these positions. The Club’s CoachingPanelassists the Coaches.Parents are rostered for match day duties, includingrunner,trainer, goal umpire, boundary umpire, time keeper, umpire’sescortand ground marshal.
