In order to take this exam, you wouldneed to beCSPDT certified and completed a surgical instrumentprocessingclass or have 24 months full time experience as asterileprocessing technician or completion of a surgicalinstrumentprocessing or surgical technology course or 24 monthsexperience asa surgical instrument sales or service position. Youwill have tobecome a member of the IAHCSMM in order to take eithertheCertified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam ortheCertified Instrument Specialist (CIS) exam. A benefit ofbecoming amember of the IAHCSMM is that they provide trainingprograms thatare helpful to their certification exams.
