Every pair is identified byacombination of 5 tip and 5 ring colors. The conductors of apairwill be close together and one will be marked a solid color andtheother with small stripes of the corresponding color (bluestripeson white, white stripes on blue and so on). This way youcanidentify the conductors as belonging to the same pair eventhoughthey may not be closely wrapped together in the loose bundleofwires you get after stripping the outer jacket off. If a cablehasmore than 25 pairs you will encounter colored pairwrapping.Usually cabling vendors use two flat plastic strips,helicallywrapped around each group of 25 pairs. Each strip iscolored. Firststrip uses one of five tip colors. Second strip usesone of fivering colors. So wrap number equals to pair number withthe samecombination of tip and ring colored conductors. When thecable'spair count exceeds 600, bundles are grouped into superbundles.Every super bundle uses wrapping, colored with one of firstthreetip colors.
