For someone like you who wants to take public service to thenextlevel for the country’s quality education by serving as aschoolprincipal, one of the steps to take is to pass thePrincipal’stest, commonly known National Qualifying Examination forSchoolHeads (NQESH). This test is for all the aspirants for aPrincipal Iposition. As mentioned in the DepEd Order (DO) No. 39,s. 2007entitled Modified Qualification Standards for the Positionsof HeadTeachers and Principals and DO 97, s. 2011 entitledRevisedGuidelines on the Allocation and Reclassification of SchoolHeadsPositions, the applicant should meet any of thefollowingeligibility requirements: a. One year as Head Teacher; orb. Twoyears as Teacher-in-Charge or Master Teacher; or c. Fiveyears asTeacher III or SPED Teacher; or d. Five years as anincumbentpublic school teacher who has five years of managerialandsupervisory experience in a DepEd recognized private institutionorCommission on Higher Education (CHED) recognized highereducationinstitution. START PREPARING THE FOLLOWING REQUIREDDOCUMENTS: a.Certificate of Eligibility (system-generated); b.PerformanceRating (Very Satisfactory) for the last two (2) ratingperiods; c.Service Record; d. Designation as Teacher-in-Chargesigned by theSDS (if applicable); e. Certification of managerialandadministrative experience from DepEd-recognizedprivateinstitutions or CHED-recognized private highereducationinstitutions (if applicable). The examination shallcoversituational critical thinking questions relevant to the roleof anSH anchored on the domains of the NationalCompetency-BasedStandards for School Heads (NCBSSH) stipulated inDO 32, s. 2010entitled National Adoption and Implementation of theNationalCompetency-Based Standards for School Heads: a. SchoolLeadership;b. Instructional Leadership; c. CreatingStudent-Centered LearningClimate; d. Human Resource Management andProfessional Development;e. Parent Involvement and CommunityPartnership; f. SchoolManagement and Operations; and g. Personaland ProfessionalAttributes and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Thenature of the testis very different from the Licensure Examinationfor Teachers orthe Civil Service Exam. The content of the test willbe a littlecomplex and you may the questions easy, only a few passit as theaim of the examiners is for you not to pass it. That’s howtoughthe NQESH is.
