During the 2018 severeweather season,the Tornado Puncher team will be deploying to gatherdata withinsevere storms throughout the United States. The purposeof the thePressureLog app is to provide a unique way for the publicto getinvolved and help collect data on a large scale. You will beableto view data from the Tornado Puncher team in the field as wellasview data from a network of devices you can easilysetup!PressureLog allows you to easily setup a network of devicesto viewpressure trends from multiple locations with android devicesthathave pressure sensors enabled. We have built a RaspberryPiapplication that uses BMP180 and DHT22 sensors. Setup apowerfulhome or travel weather station that collects pressure,temperature,humidity & dewpoint. With the Raspberry Piapplication, you cansend data to the PressureLog network and viewdata from acombination of Android and Raspberry Pi devices!Research- Bycollecting data from a wide array of devices, we canstudy pressuredifferentials from several types of severe weather.We will betesting the mobile pressure sensors this spring bydeploying inclose proximity to supercells and severe squall lines.The goal isto determine if a wide scale use of mobile pressuresensors canhelp to detect severe weather and improve forecasting.When severeweather is in the forecast, you can monitor pressuretrends whileat the same time join the research network when yourecord data tothe pLog. If you happen to be unfortunate enough tobe in closeproximity to a tornado this season, the data you collectcould beextremely useful in our pressure differential research.Whethersevere storms are in the forecast or not, PressureLogprovides youa way to keep track of your pressure trends. If yourecord data toour pLog, you will be able to view pressure trendsover an extendedperiod of time. Record data to CSV files for use inyour ownplotting applications.
