Legend of the Blue Dragon is anonlinemultiplayer text based game. It is based off an older BBSgamecalled Legend of the Red Dragon, by Seth Able. Come jointhethousands that have played this before you.The premise of LOBD is that a Blue Dragon is wreaking havoc inatown where the player has recently arrived. Multipleplayerscompete over a period of weeks to advance their skills andto killthe dragon. In order to achieve this goal, players must facecombatto gain experience. Once they have gained enough experience,theymust face their master at Turgon's Warrior Training and advanceinskill level. Advancement presents stronger enemies and masters;aplayer must reach level 12, the final level, beforechallengingTurgon himself and attacking the dragon.Players select a character class, choosing from amongDeathKnight Skills, Mystical Skills, and Thieving Skills. While aplayeris training in a particular skill, s/he is subject to randomeventsin the woods for that particular skill, which provideopportunitiesfor advancement. Eventually, players may master allthreeskills.Players can take a certain number of actions every day.Actionscould be to fight monsters in the forest, attack otherplayers orto attempt to slay the blue Dragon itself. In addition,every day aplayer can send a "flirt" to another player characterwhich mayrange from a shy wink, to a marriage proposal.There are three non-player characters located at the Inn:SethAble the bard, Violet the barmaid, and the unnamed Bartender.SethAble the bard will sing a song for a player. Once a day,playerscan listen to Seth's song and receive a bonus, such as thedoublingof one's bank account, or additional forest or player vs.playerfight opportunities. The Bartender provides servicesandinformation to any warrior who can pay him in gold or gems,butprovides nothing for free.Male players can also flirt with Violet, and female playerswithSeth Able, in a fashion similar to flirting with otherplayers.Success is based on the player's charm points. A marriageto Violetor Seth may last one day or two months or more;unlikeplayer-player marriages, the software may terminate thesebonds atany time. During marriage, offspring are possible, andthese bringsometimes surprising benefits to warriors.LOBD allows many players to play simultaneously. Thisallowsreal-time player-versus-player battles.LOBD features several in-game message boards, as well asalimited electronic mail system, which allow players toconverse.Players may use the mail system to send flirtations tootherplayers of the opposite gender, propose trysts, or marriage(onlymarriages lead to the conception of children).
