When the brightness of the phone using the AMOLED screen lowerthebrightness past a certain point, the screen starts to flickerorpulsate. This is a result of the AMOLED technology Samsung,amongother manufacturers, use in their displays, and the way thatthesetypes of screens operate. With a traditional LCD screen, alight isprojected through the array of pixels to increase ordecrease theirluminosity, and brightness adjustments are made bysimply dimmingthis light. But with AMOLED displays, each pixelemits its ownlight—so in order to decrease your screen'sbrightness, theelectrical current flowing through these pixels hasto be reducedin some way. It's this reduced current that can makeyour screenseem to pulse or flicker. This application solves theseAMOLEDproblems by replacing the system functions for automaticbrightnessadjustment, which dims the pixels displayed on the screenwithouthaving to reduce the current flowing through them. Thismeans itcan keep the physical brightness of the screen at a highenoughlevel to avoid screen flicker problems, whileautomaticallyreducing the actual display brightness according toambient light,protecting your eyes. It reduces screen brightness byturning offsome pixels and adding a transparent black mask layer,and thenprovides you with an easy-to-access control bar to furtheradjustthe brightness. Another benefit is allowing you to darkenyourscreen further than the minimum stock brightness level. Aftertheandroid o version, this app still effective in the statusbar,notification drop-down menu or lock screen.
