Description

Brown FACADES (Facts about CampusArchitecture, Design, Environments and Spaces) is an interactiveguide to the architectural history of the Brown University Campus,in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.

Brown’s Campus is a microcosm of American architecture withexcellent examples from all periods of its 250 year history. At thesame time, its architecture and art, its public and intimate spaceshelp to tell the rich story of our unique institution, ourstudents, faculty, staff and administrators. The work on this Appbegan with an undergraduate research seminar in the history ofarchitecture in the fall of 2011. Every week the students met in adifferent space on campus to discuss research methods, reviewindividual entries and conduct a site visit. All entries werewritten by the students and then edited by Siri Olson and DietrichNeumann. We hope to continue to develop the App and hope forfeedback from students and alumni to add more “Facts About CampusArchitecture Design Environment and Spaces.”
